expected Jack to eventually hook up with one of the girls at some point which is probably why the show did so well when it was NEW because of not knowing how things would turn out from week to week.

Especially in season 2 the way the scripts were written and how Jack was so close to hooking up with Chrissy-lol

I watched this show from the very beginning in 1977. I still remember seeing the debut broadcast. I never thought Jack would hook up with either of his roommates because the very premise of the show was that he couldn't. That would have ruined it. Besides, this show was already controversial even without that happening. Even if the producers had wanted to go in that direction, I don't think ABC would have let them. Networks will only take so much heat.

But you still didn't think that based on the attraction between Jack and Chrissy early on in the show? The beginning of season 2

Seems like between the end of season 1 and the beginning of season 2, he was going to hook up with Chrissy. But it faded away as he continued to live there and Chrissy became dumber. Remember she was just a regular girl when he first moved in

The basic premise of the show was that it was about men and women who were able to be friends without anything happening just as if it were any same-sex, heterosexual friendship. That was the point and it was a wonderful idea.

But the writers ****ed it up. They ****ed it up with Chrissy in the beginning and they ****ed it up with Janet toward the end. If they wanted us to believe that concept, then they shouldn't have built up so much sexual tension. I mean, if you didn't notice any of that and happily went about assuming nothing was meant to happen...great. But good lord, I have to watch pretty stiff-eyed if I want to see it that way. I certainly don't behave with my male friends the way those girls behaved with Jack and vice versa for my male friends not behaving with the girls the way Jack did. I'm not talking about minor flirtation, either. That stuff happens. It's understandable. But no, with these guys it was a bit different.

Granted, I grew up in a post-Friends, everyone hooks up by the end world. I didn't watch the show during its original run. I'll admit that. But through the observations I've made, it's hard to deny some of the chemistry. I mean, really.

You have to admit that being just friends and roommates, there was alot of touching, feeling and kissing going on between the three, especially Jack.
