I just found out about this case from a friend. in 1988 five teenage boys kidnapped Junko Furuta. (then a high school Senior) They kept her in one of the boys' home. They made Junko call her parents and tell them she was okay and was with a friend. Parents who lived in that house refused to help her for fear of being beaten up.
They proceeded to rape and torture her for 45 days. (unimaginable stuff.) eventually resulting in her death after she was burned alive. When they were finished with her they threw her in a plastic drum and encased her in Concrete.
The boys were tried as adults and the ringleader only served 8 years before beating up a friend when he got out. He went to prison for another seven years for the beating. Because the boys were teens at the time they were able to get new identities. Junko's parents tried to sue the boys' Mother and Father of the household where the incident took place but it was dismissed because the Phys. evidence did not link to the Boys. It has been said others knew what was going on and did nothing.:(
The ringleader received a twenty-year sentence. The other boys got much lighter terms. 5-7 years from appeal. What are Poster's thoughts on this case? It is similar to the Sylvia Likens case. In that the Perps. committed horrible crimes and got off relatively easy. I think it's a travesty they were given light sentences and were given new identities.
