Shortly afterward Warren Littlefield, who conducted over 50 interviews for the book, was fired by phone. His favorite show, “Will & Grace,” was still airing at the time. He has no kind words for the man who ultimately came in to run the show at NBC, Jeff Zucker. The network is now flailing.

“The Zuckerization of the network in recent years has been marked by the belief that viewers exist to be manipulated rather than nourished. In the Zucker worldview, the audience doesn’t count.”

Moment: Sean Hayes remembers “a phone call to Jeff Zucker. It was toward the end of ‘Will & Grace,’ and the ratings weren’t all that great, and I call Jeff. He said, ‘Yeah, Sean. What's up?’

“He talked fast to let me know he didn’t have much time.

“‘What can we do for marketing?’” I asked him.

“He said, ‘It's over, Sean. Nobody cares about the show anymore. It’s over.’ I couldn't believe he was telling me that.

“I hung up on him.”

Wow. That's the kind of attitude that sent NBC from a #1 to a last place network.

How Jeff Schmucker even got the job as head of NBC in the 1st place is beyond me.

But thank God this massive toolbox is gone from NBC.
