Sandy Dahl, Wife Of 9/11 Flight 93 Pilot, Dies

Sandy Dahl, widow to United Flight 93 (http://www.inquisitr.com/140034/a-look-at-flight-93-tens-years-later/) pilot Jason Dahl, whose plane went down in a Pennsylvania field on 9/11, passed away from natural causes at the age of 52.

The Denver Post (http://www.denverpost.com/breakingnews/ci_20718021/sandy-dahl-died-natural-causes-charity-says) reports that Dahl passed away in her sleep on Friday night, according to family friend David Dosch. She was best known for channeling the tragedy of her husband’s death on September 11, 2001 into a campaign, which honored his memory and also instigated the Captain Jason M. Dahl Scholarship Fund for new pilots.

The fund also announced that Dahl passed away from natural causes near Denver, Colorado, although friends stated she was in good health.

Captain Dahl’s plane was meant for the U.S. Capitol or the White House, but passengers on board fought against the hijackers, and the plane crashed into an empty field in rural Pennsylvania as well. Sandy always held the belief that her husband was with the passengers in working to foil the terrorists’ plans.

The reason I am doing this (interview) today and the reason that I do this at all is to make sure he is never forgotten.”

I agree, it's sad. You're probably right that she died of a broken heart. Fifty-two is young. What a shame all the people who had to die on 9/11 because of terrorists and the sadness it caused our nation.

It can happen, though. I had a cousin pass away very suddenly of heart failure at the age of 30, when she had been in perfect health otherwise... This was back in September of 1999. In fact - if you account for the leap year that we had in 2000, she died exactly two years prior to 9/11 (she died on 9/12/99). So even before that day came along, I already hated that week - the week of 9/11 - for that reason.

That said, that is super-sad to hear of her passing. It's definitely surprising, given her age and how sudden it was. But - I'm glad at the same time, because now she's together with her husband. I know it was a pretty tough decade without him, especially given the horrific circumstances of his death.
