On various occasions, it was mentioned on this show that, in her younger years, Jamie had been a smoker. Shame on her! Like many other people from the time in which she grew up, she gave in to peer-presure and quit. However, every once in a while, her nerviousness and anxiety would get the best of her and she would revert back to it. Giving the audiance a chance to boo and hiss at her for doing such a thing was simply one more part of the political correctness of this show and the time that it was made. Well, about a decade before this show came out, there was an episode of "Gimme a Break!" that had a similar message. It was from the second season and it was called "Julie Smokes". Because I had a very big crush on the character of Julie, I was devistated to see her do such a thing! In any event, I have posted several messages about this topic over on the "Gimme a Break!" page of this site. My most recent such thread is called "Tales from New Zealand". The last time that I checked, it was on the top of the page. I would like to suggest that anyone who is interested in the non-smoking subculture read this thread. After I have read it, I would be very interested in what you think of it!
