A lot of TV Shows today still do 22-24 episodes a season and some even still do but not many still do 25-26 episodes season. It's usually 25 at the most and 21 at the least for any TV show now, In the 50's and 60s 30-40 Episodes a season for any TV Show was normal. Then in the Late 60s-Early 70's that began to change as they started doing 25-27 episodes a season and not the typical 31-36 and sometimes as much as 40 Episodes a season that they were doing for any Shows of the last Decade. by the Mid 90s that shrank to 23-25 Episodes a Season. Early 2000's 22-24 Episodes a season. Back then(50s and 60s) they started airing episodes in September(or October) and Episodes pretty much every week util Mid June with almost no breaks in between them! That also changed in the Late 60's-Early 70's.

A least we don't live in the UK where a typical TV Show in the UK only has 5-7 Episodes a season. For example a Show in the UK runs for Five seasons (They call it series) with 5-9 episodes in each season and then when they end the show That adds up to 25-45 episodes over Five seasons(Series) when they end the show. UK(And most British Counties) shows are a lot shorter then the US. In the US a Television show that has been on for five Seasons has a typical 110-125 episodes over Five seasons. that is 65-85 more Episodes then a Five season show in the UK or a show that has been on for Five seasons in the UK.They have been doing that in the UK since the 50's! No offence to the British Peoples but aren't you glad you live in the US?

I remember that Dallas had some 30 episode seasons in its most popular years.

Aaron Spelling's prime-time soaps on FOX - "Beverly Hills 90210" and "Melrose Place" - were still doing 30-35 episodes per season in the 1990s since such serialized dramas usually do not repeat well.
