I can only go by what I've read in Betty's two books, and Rue's book. Betty says absolutely NOTHING negative about any of her Golden Girls coworkers.

In her book, Rue expresses gratitude to Bea Arthur for taking her into her home one night, when Rue was devastated following her father's death. She does, however, go on to describe Bea's behavior as sometimes difficult and demanding, while trying to be as tactful as she could be about saying it. She also described a phenomenon that I found particularly interesting: Estelle was plagued by stage fright and lack of the ability to remember her lines during the seven years they did GG. However, she did much better when they did the year of Golden Palace. Rue herself speculates that she may have felt much less stress and pressure with Bea Arthur out of the picture. Who knows?

From all the info. we've been privy to, I don't get the impression that either Betty or Bea felt there was anything that they actually needed to "make up" about.
