Last Dance was her best song by far, and one of the best disco songs ever. RIP!

ABlairican Pie 05-17-2012, 04:54 PM Incredible. This has become the worst year for r & b deaths. First, Whitney Houston, and now Donna Summer. This is absolutely insane, and tragic.
:crying:
UMFaninMD 05-17-2012, 08:32 PM She was one of my favorite singers. I had the pleasure of seeing her in concert back in the late 90's along with Kool & the Gang and she still sounded great. I never get tired of listening to her and her 17 minute MacArthur Park Suite is one of the best pieces of music ever created. RIP.
catlover79 05-17-2012, 09:12 PM In the summer of 1979, my dad painted what would be his new baby's room. While doing so, he listened to two of the year's biggest albums - Cher's "Take Me Home" and Donna Summer's "Bad Girls". The baby, of course, was me - so even before I was born I was listening to Donna's music and have loved it all my life. She gave so much joy to this world and take comfort in the fact that she is now at Home resting in the arms of her Lord. My heart and prayers are with her husband and daughters.

You are 100% correct. It's hard to find a bigger Donna Summer fan than me, and there's NO DOUBT that Last Dance was a shameless, pitfully written and concieved song. She did the best she could with it though.

I don't know if you're being serious or sarcastic, I don't dislike the song that much but of all the hits she's had, it is my least favorite and I certainly wouldn't call it shameless nor pitifully written.

"Dim All the Lights" is one of my all-time favorite songs of hers. I always tended to gravitate more to that tune and others like "Romeo", "The Wanderer", "Try Me, I Know We Can Make It", "I Feel Love", "Spring Affair", "State of Independence", "This Time I Know It's For Real", and "Supernatural Love" to name but a few rather than her best known titles ("Love to Love You Baby", "Hot Stuff", "Last Dance", "Bad Girls", etc.).
For the record, I always thought her version of "Could It Be Magic" was a lot better than the original by Barry Manilow. Who's with me?
Schmoopie 05-18-2012, 05:33 AM Oh wow...I heard that she had died but I didn't know that she had cancer. She was very talented, and frankly I think this is a bigger loss to music than Whitney Houston.

I was being serious. Again, I was and still am a huge Donna Summer
fan, but that song never should have made it outta the studio

Ok, no problem.
isiahthomas 11-27-2012, 04:29 PM I didn't like her music but i do like Love To Love You Baby. LOL@her moaning on the song. RIP Donna and she was cute. Have ya'll seen her cute daughter who's a actress named Brooklyn Sudano? She played on My Wife and Kids tv show with Damon Wayans and Tisha Campbell.

Hawkee 01-02-2018, 03:58 AM The biggest Donna Summer fan in my family was my uncle and his room was covered with Donna Summer posters and he had a collection of Donna Summer 8-tracks but then he gave them away when he joined the military. My first Donna Summer album was She Works Hard For The Money and that is a great Donna Summer album from 1983 and the title song was a cool song that was inspired by a real life incident that Donna Summer experienced when she worked as a waitress and it was that cover of the She Works Hard For The Money that inspired me to dress up as a diner waitress for Halloween. I must admit when I heard that Donna Summer died I rushed to Kmart and bought a copy of her 1979 album Bad Girls and got MP3's of her songs. I do wish that her albums All Systems Go and Cats Without Claws would get rereleased on cd because they were Donna's underrated albums of the 80's
