View Full Version : So if Louie really does get fired...
dawsongirl 01-26-2002, 04:58 PM ...who would you like to see replace him as host of Family Feud?
Truthfully, I have no idea (no, I won't say RD because I don't know why he'd do it anyway). But I do hope they decide to re-adopt the old rules of the game (ie. no single, single, single, triple).
TV Favorites 01-28-2002, 12:23 AM I think many people, loyal to the original "Feud" would like to see Richard do a special week of shows, but not take over as permanent host. Since Richard is semi-retired and (from what I have heard) he wanted to "distance himself" from the new format, I doubt he would even do one week.
I would like to see the game return to the original format, rules, set, and theme, but that would be disasterous to their ratings. As much as I would like to see Louie replaced, he should stay on due to the new crop of "Feud" watchers being used to seeing him on the show.
TV Guy 01-28-2002, 10:57 PM If they do go with a new host, it will be with someone younger than Richard and Louie, because the goal is to bring in the younger viewers that are more attractive to advertisers.

And frankly I don't blame him one bit.
I think it would fun if someone produced a special and he hosted a couple games- on his set (or some version there of). Would just love to see him back on TV. :)
TV Favorites 01-28-2002, 11:37 PM Me too! :)
Brett Ferino 01-29-2002, 10:39 AM I bet he wont!
Tiger32 01-31-2002, 11:53 PM I am a fan of Family Fued, but I haven't heard anything of possibly replacing Louie Anderson. Does anyone know if they are actually considering this?
dawsongirl 02-01-2002, 03:52 PM Go to Steve Beverly's site. There's an article on there somewhere about it.

dawsongirl 02-01-2002, 03:55 PM Well, it was there. But it is fact.
17Mar59 02-01-2002, 10:03 PM It would be nice to see Richard Dawson do a couple of anniversary show specials or something like that, but as far
as replacing Louie...hmmm..I don't know.

 My mom tried to tell me the same thing! I got GSN in Jan of 2000 and got to watching FF and Match Game and so one day I asked my mom if Richard was still alive. She said no, but I refused to believe her, so I got on the net and looked at some of those sites that tell you whether or not celebs are dead and they all said he was alive! Then I saw an ad for that game show special that was on FOX in March of that year and it said he was narrating it. Proof Positive he was alive!! My mom will never live that one down.
As far as where he's hiding, he probably in his house in Beverly Hills with his wife Gretchen and daughter Shannon.
Tiger32 02-02-2002, 08:47 PM I liked the Old Family Fued with Richard Dawson as well, but I also remember some people not liking Dawson's style.
One complaint regarding Dawson was that he got to fresh with the contestants. But I always knew that his flirtation was totally harmless and perfectly innocent, but his critics did not see it that way.
While I would agree that Louie is not the sharpest game show host around, I think he makes up for it with his personality, he is not above joking about his weight etc. etc.. I think a game show is purely entertainment, and the personality of the host should be a very important factor.
But I also must admit that Louie has looked totally unprepared as the host at times, and he occassionally forgets the rules. I have gotten frustated on a couple of occassions on his lack of preparation, I think some the weight of this should fall on his producer and director.
I think they should edit the mistakes or bloopers if you will, out of the tape prior to showing it to a national television audience, because this simply adds fuel for the fire.
I'll be willing to bet that even the much loved Bob Barker makes mistakes on occassion, but I guarantee you that the Price is Right would not dare humiliate him by including his blunders in the tape that they broadcast to the national audience.
In any case, I hope that they consider all factors prior to changing hosts. If they must change the host, I hope they choose a woman, because there are so few women game show hosts out there, and it would be nice to see this for a change. I think Kathy Griffin from Suddenly Susan fame, would be a great replacement, because she is intelligent and very funny, and isn't that what entertaiment is all about.
mamamiasweetpeaches 02-03-2002, 07:42 PM My story is similar. Over 10 years ago someone told me Richard Dawson was dead. On Christmas Eve I told my sister who went ballistic "He is not!He is not!I want proof!" Did a search on Richard Dawson on the computer and VOILA!There was the truth:HE'S ALIVE!!!!!C'mon back,Richard! We miss ya!Although my father was one of the people who didnt like him kissin everyone......that wouldnt float in this day and age, would it??

Doubtful. Too many sexual harrassment laws.
TV Favorites 02-05-2002, 10:43 PM According to Richard on "Feud '94", he promised his daughter that he wouldn't kiss anyone but her and her mom. (I don't know if he made that story up for the camera due to harassment laws or if it was true or both.)
dawsongirl 02-05-2002, 11:13 PM I can't say it's true or not either, but he seems like the type of guy that would do anything for his kids. I mean, he stopped smoking because his daughter asked him to, so why stop there? :)
Tiger32 02-05-2002, 11:45 PM Does anyone object to having a woman as host of the Fued?
