After announcing its pilot pickups today, The CW got to work renewing shows already on the air: namely, Gossip Girl, Hart of Dixie, and Nikita. Confirming months of industry speculation, Vulture had learned that Gossip Girl will return for its final, sixth season at a somewhat reduced 11-episode order. (Dixie and Nikita will presumably continue with initial 13-episode orders, as is CW custom.) Meanwhile, current Gossip boss Josh Safran will be heading to NBC's Smash next season, while Sarah Goodman has been promote to executive producer to steer the show's sign-off.

I've always wondered when Gossip Girl would end. Pretty Little Liars has been running circles around Gossip Girl for a while.
