Hello there, I'm quite a big fan of Night Court as some of you may know, so naturally I'm interested in Barney Miller.

Given that no TV channel where I live plans on airing Barney Miller anytime soon though, I'm considering blindly buying a season on DVD, like I did with All In the Family, Three's Company and Laverne & Shirley amongst others.

So basically I'm asking, is it worth it ordering a season from Amazon, given that I haven't seen a single episode?

If you like shows from the 70's, you should love Barney Miller..

I have seasons 1-3 and would recommend starting with season one -- it sets the tone for the series and introduces the characters..

course, some come and go during the series run -- just like in real life.

If you order a DVD, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Well, I really like the show so I would say yes. BUT, you can find excerpts and some random episodes on You Tube. Another thought: see if your library has it in their DVD collection - there's a chance they might some/a few eps. These two suggestions would allow you to sample the show for free. Don't think that's going to be likely, as I don't think Barney Miller was very popular in Australia. At least Night Court gets re-runs over here!

Might blindly order Season 1 then.

Well, I think you'll really like the show. have you checked out cYou Tube yet? I know they have some eps from the show on there.

As one of the biggest Barney Miller fans there is, I'm very biased, but I think you should take a chance on the DVD. Check it out of the library first or something like that, so if you decide you don't like it, you wouldn't have shelled out the money. If you like dry and sarcastic humor, you'll probably love it. Let us know!!! :D
