The Young and the Restless is shaking things up.
Eileen Davidson, who has played Ashley Abbott on and off since 1986, has been let go by the CBS soap.
“Last week I lost my childcare. This week I lost my job!” the actress tweeted Wednesday morning. “It all works out because I don’t need a babysitter if I’m not working. #beingpositive”
Meanwhile, EW.com reports that Brett Butler (Grace Under Fire) will guest-star this June in two episodes as a bound-to-be nosy neighbor of Doug Davidson’s Paul.

This is awful news. I hate how they keep running such a veteran character into the ground.

Last time she was let go it was by that horrific Lynn Marie Latham. Although many seem to dislike her, I still didn't think Maria Arena Bell would let go of Eileen, such a staple to the cast.

Ashley was the only reason i came back to the show after Dru's death. I hope she land something better in the future.

It’s official: Eileen Davidson is headed back to Days of Our Lives.
The suds vet will reprise her role on the NBC soap as Kristen Blake, (erstwhile) Big Bad Stefano DiMera’s foster daughter, TVLine has confirmed. She’s set to rejoin the series beginning Oct. 11.


The Hollywood Reporter first reported the casting news.
Davidson’s villainous alter-ego — and her alter’s many alters — were last seen on Days in 1998 when she was presumed dead via drowning. However, in true soap fashion, Kristen had actually been stranded on an island.
