Soap Opera Digest has learned that DAYS's überpopular Peter Reckell (Bo) has been quietly informing castmates that he is leaving the show. The actor, who first came to Salem in 1983 and quickly shot to superstardom, has reportedly been in protracted talks with the soap to work out a new deal. "We do not comment on contract negotiations," says a spokesperson. "We hope that Peter stays with DAYS OF OUR LIVES."

Bo Brady is leaving Salem.
Days of Our Lives vet Peter Reckell’s wife, Kelly Moneymaker, confirmed his rumored exit on Tuesday, tweeting, “Hard to say goodbye to characters who’ve been on 4ever!! Hard 2 believe Bo will be one of those shortly!” No word yet on when Reckell — who has portrayed the popular daytime character on and off since 1983 — will officially depart Days.

Watched Days when I was younger and always thought Peter Reckell would transition to prime time. Wish him success in his future roles.

He did have a role in Knots Landing that lasted for about a year and a half...as rogue/con man Johnny Rourke, a past love interest of Paige Matheson's (Nicollette Sheridan).

For whatever reason, the part just didn't catch fire. Reckell's attempt at an Irish accent wasn't very good, but I don't think the writers really knew what to do with the character, either.

Although Peter Reckell originated the role of Bo Brady in 1983, he was replaced for 3 years (1992-95) by actor Robert Kelker-Kelly. I wonder if Kelly or someone else will replace Reckell, as opposed to having the character die like Renee Jones' Lexie Carver.
