View Full Version : What type of . . .
LucyFan 01-25-2002, 05:39 PM . . . . blood do you have: positive or negative A, A/B, B, or O?
Another question, have you ever tried to donate some of your blood to people who need it?
Max Whittaker 01-25-2002, 05:43 PM I wish I knew.
I tried once after september 11.
Mossopp 01-25-2002, 05:51 PM I dunno what type of blood I have.
I've never donated blood either. I doubt that I could though. When I was about 15 I developed this lump on the side of my face and I had to get loads of blood tests to determine if it was cancerous or not. I couldn't even handle the blood tests. I was very underweight at the time so I don't know if that was a contributing factor but after I had given blood I couldn't even move. I had to lie down for about half an hour or I'd just collapse. I'd feel really ill for the rest of the day too. It was awful and I hope I never have to do that again!
Kay Scarpetta 01-25-2002, 05:55 PM Good question. I don't know, lol.
But if I was old enough [I"m 12], I still couldn't donate blood. I'm too scared of needles. I'd probably jump off the table or something

Chocoholic 01-25-2002, 06:33 PM I don't know my blood type. I've tried to donate blood but I'm ot tall enough and I don't weigh enough. I think you have to be at least 5 feet tall and weigh 110 pounds.
KerriBerri687 01-25-2002, 06:47 PM i dunno my blood type or anything...but i was anemic when i was younger and i still sorta am now but not as severe... sooo its prob not that good...anywayzzz im gonna donate blood as soon as i weigh enough :)
LucyFan 01-25-2002, 07:01 PM Last year, I went to the blood bank truck to donate blood. First, they had me fill out this sheet of personal information. After that, they sent me to the questioning booth where they asked me very personal questions (i.e.: when is the last time you had sex?). After answering all of those personal questions (either saying Yes or No), they finally sent me to where the donars give blood. The nurse had me lay down on a seat and she checked my blood pleasure and everything. She left to go get the man who was in charge of getting the blood. By the time she and the man returned I was very nervous. The man had the needle in his hand and he checked me blood pressure and then he said my blood flow wasn't acting right. They had me leave. I was so annoyed at that because I really wanted to give blood. But afterwards, they treated me with cookies for giving it a try. The cookies were delicious! Yum! But if I was given an another chance to donate blood, I would surely do it [again].

Mijada 01-25-2002, 07:12 PM I have no idea. I'd like to know though. I called the Red Cross after Sept. 11 to schedule an appt. to donate and they said they'd call me back but they never did. :(
Warm & Fuzzy 01-25-2002, 07:14 PM Hmmm, I don;t know.
ILuvJoandBlair 01-25-2002, 08:58 PM I'm afraid of needles so I wouldn't know.

Bootsy Whoosh 01-25-2002, 09:55 PM My blood type is Q negative. Oh wait, that's not it.
My blood type is A pos.
I have not donated blood in a really really long time because I am always on medication and you can't donate blood when you have medication in your blood stream. I would if I could though, I ain't 'fraid of no needles.
Incidently, y'all should really try to find out your blood type, and especially if you are type AB (rarest) or O (universal donor) you should donate if you can find the courage.
JDS84 01-25-2002, 10:44 PM I have no idea.

By any chance, do you know what a person would be if one parent was AB+ I think, and the other O-? I'm curious and just thought I'd ask you.

Well, if I am remembering my Punnett square methods right, that child would have a 25% chance of being A+, a 25% chance of being A-, a 25% chance of being B+, and a 25% chance of being B-. It is not possible for the child to be AB or O. Hope that helps.
Truth 01-26-2002, 08:09 AM I believe my blood type is O......
