(Note to Moderators, this post is on both the Raymond and the Seinfeld subforum.)

I have been thinking about Ray Ramano and Jerry Seinfeld.

Both were unknowns by most Americans before they got their television series. Both shows started out slow and then found their audiences with them as headliners. Seinfeld was on from 1989 to 1998 while Raymond was on from 1996 to 2005.

Did Seinfeld and/or Romano own or partly own their series? Jerry Seinfeld was just some comic like others like Tim Allen, Roseanne, Bob Newhart and a bunch of others who got to headline their own series. I never heard of Seinfeld at all before 1989. Dude sort of showed up from nowhere like Obama.

Since Seinfeld went off, the only thing I have seen Seinfeld do is the Bee movie and that's it. The guy is just fabulously wealthy and he doesn't need to work. NBC wanted one more Seinfeld season and wanted to pay $5 million an episode and Seinfeld turned it down. That's like over $100 million dollars Seinfeld turned down

Romano on the other hand is on another series, Men on Trees or something like that. I have never seen it before. I know that Romano is also fabulously wealthy, but I don't think that he made as much of his show that Seinfeld did on his, or why would he still work?

I would think that CBS would have wanted to keep Raymond going on another year or so, maybe, dunno. It was good that it ended when it did because of the death of Peter Boyle soon afterwards. More or less a Monday night anchor show (CBS' best night is Monday and has been for 20 years), I think despite the death of Boyle's character could have had another season. So Romano walked away also like Seinfeld (unless I am wrong).

Sort of the question is, did Seinfeld make off much better than Romano? Or does Romano just like to work while Seinfeld looks at his parking lot of Italian cars and romp around a house the size of Lichenstien?

Seinfeld was at seasons 8 & 9 when Everybody Loves Raymond was at seasons 1 & 2 from Fall 1996 to Spring 1998.
