I miss Lucy. One of a kind.

Wow, that is hard to believe. I remember I was on the phone with my grandma when she told me that Lucille Ball died.

It was the first celebrity death I was aware of. I was eight years old and in the second grade. It stuck with me for a few days, because at that point, I'd never known anyone who'd died. I'd seen Lucille Ball on television almost every day for as long as I could remember, though, so this was the closest thing to losing someone I knew that I'd experienced. Her death made me very sad.

I remember it being such big news that it was talked about on the loudspeaker during the morning announcements at school.

Yes, it's hard to believe it's been 23 years. It's even harder to believe she'd be 100 years old if she was alive today.

I remember we didn't have cable, but we watched all the different stations - ABC, CBS, NBC and this new network called FOX - to get the coverage. I couldn't believe it... I just couldn't imagine the world without Lucy.

A shock I have, is the show has been off the air for 55 years. That is the last of the half hour shows. I can't think a show that was on any earlier that is still shown in reruns.

Well, that's because there was never a better show on tv and never a greater comedienne either.

I agree it's hard to believe.

But everytime I think of Lucy I think of John Ritter. Lucy's favorite show was 3's Company and they both died of the same heart condition except John was 25 years younger!

God rest her soul. She was a real trailblazer. The best physical comedienne ever.

Time goes by fast. I didn't watch the show until I was much older but now like it :)

I had one of those moments in grade school too. I was in, it must have been in the year of 1964 and over the loudspeaker or it may have been a teacher that the class heard that Herbert Hoover and Douglas MacArthur died. At the time I really didn't know much about either one but the teacher felt it was a a bit of history had passed.
