I been hooked on Friends every night for more than a month then all of a sudden i discovered that Seinfeld comes on at 2am on TBS the same time as Friends on Nick@Nite

So I gave the slight edge to Seinfeld and watch Friends at 3am because of Jerry, George, and Elaine. They were too damm funny.

What NYC sitcom do you like better?

Surprised that NBC never had the cast of Friends and Seinfeld crossover since both shows were set in the same city

^ That's true. The actress who played "Monica" on Friends (Courtney Cox) was on Seinfeld once, but she was a different character, not the "Monica" character. She was Jerry's fake wife so they could get a family discount at the dry cleaners. That was a good one.

Both are great. Can't compare the two. Drastically different styles. I'm probably one of the very few who prefer Curb to Seinfeld though.

that has NOTHING to do with the topic

My answer is Friends hands down. I've always thought Seinfeld was a bit overrated though there are some episodes I love

Boy Meets World? Really? These three are all very different types of shows, comparing Friends and Seinfeld to Boy Meets World makes very little sense. They aren't the same type of shows, and in no way did BMW ever come close to the kind of acclaim, ratings or popularity of Seinfeld or Friends.

I have to agree with this although I did like BMW at first. After a while it got on my nerves but it was an okay show. Definitely not the same type of show as Seinfeld or Friends. Come to think of it, I don't even remember it taking place in New York!

It didn't. Boy Meets World was supposed to be somewhere in Pennsylvania near Philadelphia.

While Seinfeld is a tad overrated it's still much better than Friends (although I like the Friends theme song).

I'm going to say Friends, but that doesn't mean I love Friends. I kind of grew up with it and I do find it funny a lot of the time, but the relationship drama and audience wooing is super annoying. Just, if they could've cut back on the Ross and Rachel drama and everyone didn't sleep with everyone else, I'd like it a lot more. It really can be quite funny.

But Seinfeld I just...ugh. I've tried to watch it and appreciate it and I just can't. Something about the atmosphere of it. I can't quite put my finger on it, but it just doesn't do it for me.

I can watch either show but if asked which one would I want to see first I would choose Seinfeld since it deals with things that happens in everyday life.

I agree. The one thing I do like about Friends is the theme song. It's one of the best of the 90's.

If you dont mind me asking, you mentioned you watch Seinfeld at 2am and then Friends at 3am, when do you sleep?

As far as Seinfeld and Friends goes, I like and watch both but I have to give the edge to Seinfeld. Friends got heavy sometimes (Ross and Rachel's breakup, Chandler and Monica getting married, Chandler and Monica getting engaged etc.) Seinfeld was never like that. It was never heavy. The only time it came close, I think, was when in the very early ones and Jerry and Elaine were trying to be a couple again and it was her birthday and he gave her 182 bucks. And he was saying "No this, no that" and then Elaine very quietly said "I dont think I can do that". That might have been the only "sad" if you can call it that scene of Seinfeld.

and a Friends/Mad About You crossover... Actually several. Ursula, the ditzy waitress on MAY played by Lisa Kudrow was the twin sister of Phoebe on Friends and made crossovers on Friends and once, Helen Hunt and Lelia Kenzel from MAY appeared in a scene in Central Perk, where they thought Phoebe was Ursula.

The one thing that gives Seinfeld the edge is it didn't have that "cute love story" thing going on from time to time like on Friends.

But if someone gave me the complete series on DVD for Seinfeld and Friends

I would watch Friends on Saturday and Seinfeld on Sunday

I grew up with both shows, both are great, but I always had a soft spot for...Friends! I watched it so much back in the day, I wonder what my reaction to it would be now, more than a decade after my love affair with it. I do think Seinfeld was the "better" show though. Friends is just a personal favorite.

Friends was very funny but they used a lot of lame setup-setup-punchline jokes in the scripts, particularly in the early seasons. Seinfeld was non-stop brilliance from season 2 through the end.

Both great sitcoms. I pick Friends also for nostalgia value.
But maube the most 'attached' and related to New York was Mad About You.
