View Full Version : Well folks the Mary Tyler Moore show has been yanked from Hallmark
TVFactFan 04-19-2012, 05:37 PM Which should not surprise anyone because how can any new show gain a new audience if it's airing at 4am? Hey, I enjoyed the marathon but never watched MTM at 4am because i was sleep at that time.
Well I guess I should be thankful the show is still on Me-TV. I know it was a bad sign when MTM was removed from the weekend lineup
Brian Damage 04-19-2012, 10:29 PM I guess I shouldn't be surprised, but in a way I am. You are 100% correct, how can you establish an audience at 4am?!?

Seems like they didn't want the show to succeed-lol They want to hold MTM to the same ratings results as a show that they are airing at 8pm-lol
Hallmark can kiss my a$$

I just don't get why they would waste money buying syndication rights in that case????

I know atleast try and move the show to a watchable slot like 11pm before yanking it.
That's like me posting a certain picture of myself on a dating site and then removing it because I only got one reply in 1 hour-lol

Exactly Sol! Have you been watching on MeTV?

That 8pm slot is not going to work for me on ME-tv from Mon-Fri because of the NBA and the upcoming playoffs. So I won't be able to watch until probably June.

Well, one thing I am certain about, Me-TV won't cancel MTM.

Doesn't look like it since the show has been in that 8pm slot for a minute
Brian Damage 04-19-2012, 11:03 PM Hallmark I guess wants to be the new Nick at Nite or TV Land
TVFactFan 04-19-2012, 11:10 PM Hallmark I guess wants to be the new Nick at Nite or TV Land
They are the new TV land because it's currently no shows on the channel I like and won't be watching-lol

TVFactFan 04-19-2012, 11:17 PM I thought you watched Hot in cleveland?
In 2010 when Me-TV and Antenna TV didn't exist and all we had was TV land and N@N LOL
ajgenard 04-20-2012, 04:42 AM Here's a weird analogy: I can't help but notice parallels between this channel and the Soviet space program in the 60s during the space race.
It's become obvious Hallmark buys these syndication licenses for 1 big event (an all-day marathon) and focus their attention on that instead of a consistent stream in the form of a weekly schedule. No long-term plans at all. Poorly though out from the get go. Then the ratings aren't so great and they only make matters worse by killing the show off before it even had a chance. During the space race, this was exactly how the USSR ran it's space program, which is why they never made it to moon. Instead of doing like the Americans and making small steps, pacing out the missions, learning one thing about space travel at a time they decided to focus mainly on PR missions - tried doing too much at once. In the end, poor planning needlessly killed too many cosmonauts and gave more ammunition to their enemies in the case against communism. Also, communist Russia employed heavy censorship which is something Hallmark specializes in.
Hallmark Channel - The Red Menace...??? Makes sense to me :rolleyes:

This lets me know no one was watching the show since it was not even given the opportunity to finish out the month

Worst Cable channels for sitcoms in 2012
TVLand
Hallmark
jayman75 04-22-2012, 11:37 AM Hallmark has a lot of potential, if they would simply get rid of 3-4 hours of "Little House" every night, and add in a few 30-minute sitcoms to the nightly line-up. I would watch Hallmark every night if I could see
* The Waltons
* Little House
* MTM
* Frasier
* The Golden Girls
* I Love Lucy
* Bob Newhart
If there was a solid 3-4 hour block of these shows at night - like regular network programming - then perhaps people would be more inclined to tune in to the network!
Why don't they ask us - aren't we all the experts??? ;)
mets82 04-22-2012, 11:44 AM You guys bring up some great points. You know, Im not a big MTM fan but this just so typical of Hallmark. MTM, Bob Newhart, Empty Nest etc. Plus, the fact they always keep changing there schedule around. The people in charge of Hallmark Channel NEED TO BE FIRED ASAP!!!

And who the F*ck is watching LHOTP every night for that dumb sht to have multiple airings? Not only that why did Hallmark think a show was going to succeed at 4am?

In all honesty I knew MTM and Bob Newhart was going to fail because of the their timeslots. I was just trying to enjoy it as much as I could but I knew the days were coming to an end. And yes whoever runs the programming dept must be related to someone at TV land because they refuse to change
boxercrew 04-24-2012, 02:18 AM I was thrilled when they brought back MTM. Altho, not happy with the timeslot they gave it. They show the same crap over and over and finally bring in a great old show that I loved and they yanked it after less than a month. Won't be watching Hallmarks shows in the future.:(
LittleRickyII 04-24-2012, 07:35 PM Don't give up hope on TMTMS being on Hallmark. It was January 2009 that Hallmark began airing I Love Lucy. A month later, Hallmark started drastically cutting back its airings of the show (bad ratings, apparently) and relegated it to occasional airings in often obscure time slots. It was clearly on a path to being cancelled. That word on the street was that it was on its way out. But here it is three years later and Hallmark is still carrying I Love Lucy, currently airing it six times a day. Come June it will also be on TV Land. But even if TMTMS does leave Hallmark, it's still on television on MeTV and FamNet, and on the Internet on Hulu. And given that every single episode is on DVD, we'll always have access to it even if it were to disappear from all these other venues. Don't lose heart.

That's true, atleast Me-TV still has it and airs the opening credits in it's entirety
born2late 04-27-2012, 09:13 PM Those morons in charge should've given it a better time slot, Newhart too. They keep showing the same shows all the time. Hopefully, if they do give it another shot, it will be at a decent time.
