ABC's "Apt 23" Draws Parents Television Council's Ire

The Parents Television Council has taken issue with ABC's freshman comedy, "Don't Trust the B---- in Apt 23".

The watchdog group has blasted the series, about a New York transplant who moves in with a roommate with the morals of a pirate, calling the series starring Krysten Ritter, Dreama Walker and James Van Der Beek for its substance abuse and promiscuity.

"The program is a sexist mixed-bag of hedonism, drug-use, alcohol abuse (including the main character plying a 13-year-old boy with alcohol to get him drunk) and explicit levels of promiscuity that are shocking even by today's broadcast TV standards," the group said in a statement released Tuesday in which it holds advertisers AT&T and Volkswagen accountable.

On Friday, the PTC asked members to contact the sponsors to hold them accountable for the series, which it said represents:

"a continuing and disturbing trend of using offensive, profane language in the very title of the program, where it is nearly impossible for families to avoid."

The PTC's "Apt 23" comments come as the organization continues to take issue with the Disney-owned network's freshman soap "GCB", citing the Leslie Bibb starrer's sex, foul language and portrayal of religion.

Sadly, yes.
Really though? I've never heard of a show getting taken off of the air because of the PTC.

I don't agree with the tactics of this or any watchdog group that tries to censor what the public sees.

But I do think the show has a stupid title. They couldn't have come up with something more imaginitive???

A lot of the shows they rally against are low-rated anyway, and would be cancelled whether or not the PTC cared about them.

But they've rallied against several big hits, such as Glee and Family Guy, and obviously the networks didn't run to ax those shows.
