I've been watching That Girl on ME-TV and while I think its a pretty good show, I think Marlo Thomas is simply beautiful. She is goregous and got even prettier as the show went on. Now forgive but Im not that smart when it comes to 60s fashions but I thought Marlo looked good when she had the beehive(?) hair do. When she changed her hair in the later seasons, she looked even better, if thats possible.

Does anyone else feel that way or is it just me?

It wasn't a beehive. It was a flip. Lots of girls had that do back then. She was just able to turn it into a trademark.

FYI, she had that hairdo before she was on the show. Check out her appearence in an episode of Ben Casey.

She looked her best in the final season, in my opinion. Those circa 1970 outfits remind me of what I used to see in my childhood: Hot ladies, rockin' the minis and tall boots!

Marlo was definitely a cutie. I had a crush on her as a kid when I originally watched the show. I personally liked her flip hair style the best, I didn't like it when she got rid of her bangs in the last season. Spoiler, Marlo did have a nose job (she was Danny Thomas' daughter after all), for a look at the un-varnished Marlo see her in a first season episode of My Favorite Martian. Still a sweet potootie in spite of the shnoz. :D

It's not just you,she was quite attractive. A sidenote:I think the attractive actresses in the older tv shows and movies over-all were much better looking than the so-called 'attractive' contemporary actresses. And my wife says the same thing about the men in the older shows and movies.

And her personality on the show made her even more beautiful.

Thats the thing to. I mean I would love to date someone like that because she wasnt an airhead nor was she snotty or anything. She just had a bubbly personality which I find very attractive.

I am sure that many men wished to themselves for an Ann Marie type to have as a girlfriend!

She is beautiful inside and out. Same goes for Marlo too!

And Marlo is still beautiful today. Her work with St. Jude is so admirable. I'm glad she is carrying on her father's legacy.

Marlo was more beautiful with the flip and bang hairdo even wearing that "Bangs Wig" (more like an obvious "Flip Wig") in season 4.

The long straight 70's hair with the still 60's pancake make-up and false lashes aged her.

OH Nuts!

She was adorable and I can easily see how others would find her beautiful. Her character on the show had a bubbly personality - in awe of the wonders around her. And of course her sweetie pie boyfriend and overprotective ( er I mean OVERPROTECTIVE) father just added to the charm of Ann (& Marlo for playing Ann so skillfully.) Wished Marlo had done more series.

On a side note, I LOVE Marlo for all her work for St. Jude's - God Bless her for it!

I admit it. She might be one of the best looking women from the 60s, 70s or 80s. I include Mary Tyler Moore and Marion Ross in that group as well.

Marlo was beautiful in That Girl, I think, but I find her excited voice a bit annoying, as though she's just taken a long hit of helium!

When Marlo had the long hair and side part she should've ditched the false eyelashes and be make-up free.

To me, she was at her most sexy in the final season. I agree that those made her look somewhat older, but that longest hairstyle was my favorite -- HOT! And the longer hair complemented many of the new fashions, especially when she was wearing something like a long-fringed outfit. Bangs were okay, but the long, all-one-length style was downright sexy...:happyface

Yeah, the last season she was goregous. I would love to marry someone like that. Just a nice personality and not a real drag. Btw, I think its a contest now between Marlo Thomas and Mary Tyler Moore. I mean Mary Tyler Moore on the Mary Tyler Moore was good looking too.

Nope, it's me too! And she was not only beautiful but her face was also expressive, it could be lovely, funny, or goofy.

It most definitely wasn't just you, Marlo was absolutely gorgeous in, "That Girl". I did favor her in Seasons 1-4, the flip, her outfits with the matching sunglasses, too much. Toss in her sexy voice, Marlo, "Ann Marie" had it all.

Yes, I agree, young Marlo was hot and cute. BUT, she also wasn't dumb.

You ever notice Marlo always surrounded herself with other girls who were not as cute as her? No, I wouldn't say they were ugly, just not as good looking as Marlo. All her girl neighbors always looked kind of funny or odd, any babe Marlo's age was never ever better looking than Marlo. She made sure not to hire any girl who'd outshine her. And there were plenty of hot girl actresses available then too, just never used on That Girl.

Still Marlo was hot too, too bad she didn't feel more confident in herself and cast other even hotter girls to work on the show.

Marlo Thomas is basically the template for physically the perfect woman. Coal black hair, dark eyes, ethnic. Middle Eastern women are some of the most beautiful on Earth. She kept her beauty as the years moved on also. I am young enough to be her child so I don’t really know her work, I just know she is Danny Thomas’ daughter (my city of Memphis has the famous St Jude Children’s Research Hospital which Danny founded). I don’t know if she was really that talented (she might have been), she was just attractive and exotic and the daughter of a famous performer. But yeah, if I could go back to 1965, I could show her a much better time than Phil Donahue.

I agree Miss Thomas was beautiful on the show. However, I think she would have been MORE beautiful had she not worn so much makeup and not waited until the last year to quit wearing her hair in that stiff style.

Reading this thread tells me that I should dust off my DVD's of That Girl, watch some episodes and rediscover the hotness of Marlo Thomas. :eyes:

Does anyone else feel that way or is it just me?

I remember watching the show when it was in first runs, and enjoyed it. Then came decades where not even the remotest thought of the show, ever crossed my mind.

In the 1990's I read a book about the Middle Eastern conflict titled "From Beirut to Jerusalem" by Thomas Friedman....who tried his best to paint a balanced picture of the overall situation over there, and put a human face on all parties involved.

In it, he describes the dazzling beauty of the Maronites, with their thick, flowing dark hair, and their even darker eyes, and pale complexion. I recall at the time pondering just exactly who I might know that fit such a description. There were a few acquaintances that came to mind, but nothing that really stood out by example.

Then, just a few years ago when Antenna TV started doing the "That Girl" re-runs, it was a real "Eureka!!" forehead slapping moment for me...she is exactly the living embodiment of what Friedman was describing.

In general, I think she goes just a little overboard attacking the demons of American stereotypical values, and I think that comes through in her work as starched, or overly sterile, but that's just me.

Specific to "That Girl", the 3-way dynamic between her, her father, and Donald seems more consistent with what you would expect if the kids were teenagers, not young adults.

WOW, that is freakish. When I first attempted to make the above post, it just disappeared into oblivion. I waited a good several minutes for it to come out of hiding, eventually deciding to repost,

Then, evidently, the original "lost" post just appears out of nowhere 45+ minutes after the fact.

I agree with PracTz about the hairstyles. Having it fall and separate in long lengths over and well past the shoulders, now we're talking:
