Damm, I thought 4 hours was enough but I just read in TV Guide that since Matt Lauer signed a new deal, they are considering spinning off Lauer's regular segment called "Today Professionals and turning it into a 5th hour.

This is their way of keeping Good Morning America at a distance. lol

You'd think that 2 or 3 hours of this type of show would be enough. It's basically entertainment interspersed with news.

This a horrible idea. By 2020 the Today show will probably last until tomorrow.

Stay Tuned for The Today Show followed by More Today, Later Today, Early Evening Today and Tomorrow: America before it's Today.

(and yes, I know there was a show called Later Today in the 90s with Florence Henderson)

In addition to Florence, the 1999-00 Later Today was also co-hosted by Jodi Applegate and Asha Blake. I remember thinking it was actually a decent talk show from what I saw, which I'll never say about the fourth hour of Today.

too bad NBC wasn't more patient with it.
