BigManMike 04-14-2012, 05:26 PM I was in a local music/movie store in Memphis where I live called Spin Street and look what I saw.

It appears they are now using the same kind of case for the other seasons that they used for Season 1. Season 3 was the only season I saw there that had the new case. There were two copies of it. They also had Season 1, and Seasons 6-8 with the old cases, but I'm sure in a few months they will have them all with the new cases.
TVFactFan 04-14-2012, 07:17 PM That seems kind of strange, wonder why they are doing that? I thought that case was only used for season 1 because it was a short season
BigManMike 04-14-2012, 07:48 PM I don't know. Maybe those cases are cheaper. This was the same thing Sony did to Seasons 1-6 of All in the Family about 3 years ago.

You can still get the original season 3 DVD case from ebay.
BigManMike 05-15-2012, 11:55 AM I was in Spin Street today and saw the revised Season 5 case there. Pictures are below.
BigManMike 11-26-2012, 09:19 PM I was in Best Buy on Black Friday and saw the revised case for Season 8.
As you can see in the background, they also had the original case as well.

I don't think I ever seen the back with Chrissy, Cindy, Janet and jack on the back

The (Original) Season 5 DVD Boxset that I have has Jack, Janet, Cindy, Chrissy on the back.
gilligan fanatic 11-27-2012, 07:57 AM I'm fine with the original cases, but these are nice because they take up less space.
BigManMike 02-20-2013, 05:45 PM So I was in Spin Street today and they had the new cases for all the seasons except Season 7. They still had a couple of Season 7 with the old cases and few other old ones, but mostly new ones. Here are Seasons 2, 4, and 6, plus the shelf of them.

DVDLover 02-21-2013, 05:03 AM Bigcookie-Interesting that only Season 7 is not in the thin case because I sent Season 7 back to Amazon twice and still got the old case twice so all of them is the thin cases except season 7 but it is going to look weird on my shelf though but I guess I will get used to it
Is there another store near you that you can go to and see if there is actually season 7 in the thin cases?

Sony recently re-released Seinfeld in the thinner flip cases. But its the same thing, one season (season 4) is not available in the newer case. I've looked everywhere for it. I don't understand this at all.
The newer Seinfeld cases take up half the shelf space.

I do not understand this either
I prefer the thin cases sine it takes half the shelf space, that is why I got I Love Lucy all seasons in the thin cases last week even though the cover art is terrible
They better have a good explantion why Three's Company Season 7 and Seinfield Season 4 is not in the new cases

They could have still had some of the original Box sets left over when they got the new ones in.

That could be true
BigManMike 02-22-2013, 12:15 PM I have a feeling I will see Season 7 in the thin case at some point. I checked Barnes and Noble's website and it's not at either of the Barnes and Noble stores in the Memphis area. The only other place in Memphis I can think of that regularly carries Three's Company DVD's is FYE but it's all the way out at the Wolfchase Mall and I don't live near there and I don't usually get out that way very often, so it may be a while before I get out there again, but maybe by that time, they'll have Season 7 in the thin case. Best Buy right now has Seasons 1, 2, and 8 on sale for $9.99 but the last time I went, they were all out.

I hope you are right

Not in the case of Seinfeld! I checked a half dozen Best-Buy and Target Stores, and they ALL have thin cases for all seasons except season 4. It seems the same thing with Three's Company season 7. Its very odd, but they must have some reason for leaving out one season from case transformation!
With Everybody Loves Raymond, they re-released seasons 6 & 7 in thinner cases, but not the rest of the seasons. (Those original cases were HUGE.) Fraiser seasons 1-7 were re-released in thinner cases but seasons 8-11 have yet to be.
Colonel Hogan 01-31-2014, 05:09 AM Edit: I found my answers to my original post. In case anyone else comes looking for this information...
The original, thick Digipak-style sets had disc art and an episode listing next to the actor's face on each disc. Also, the front and rear pages of the set had a two-page excerpt from Chris Mann's book, relating not only to the show in general but information on that particular season. The repackaged sets are in a normal-sized DVD case and the discs are plain with no art but they still have the episode listings printed on them. Also, the short excerpts from Mann's book are gone.
It comes down to disc art and the two page essay versus thinner case with no disc art and no essay. Whatever is more important to you. Although the thicker sets are not as easy to find new anymore.
