View Full Version : Who was Lumpy on Leave It To Beaver? kazyk 01-23-2002, 08:21 PM Hi there. I have a friend at work that seems to think there was a person named Lumpy on Leave It To Beaver and can not figure out who it was. Anyone here have any ideas? Thanks for your help :) tdr 01-23-2002, 09:45 PM My idea is that "Lumpy" was Clarence Rutherford, son of Fred Rutherford, Ward Cleaver's blowhard friend and coworker. In LITB's first season, he appears as the nieghborhood bully, who Wally and Beaver try to 'fix' by placing barrel hooves on his driveway and calling out names like "Meathead" and "Dumb Dumpy Lumpy." But Fred, who Lumpy always calls "Daddy," comes out at such an invitation instead and trips all over the rings. Later in the series, Lumpy becomes a friend of Wally's, but he is always talked about as stupid and clumsy (with reason). Fred R. talks about him in boastful terms most of the time, but when the scene shifts to their home and Lumpy has made Fred mad, Fred calls "big oaf," "big boob," and at least once "Lumpy." |
