Family Ties Forever!

I thought it was strange that they had one episode where Mrs. Ingalls finds out she is pregnant. She delivers a baby boy. Laura is jealous over the new baby. The baby gets very sick and dies. Usually pregnancy storylines last more than one episode.

That's true. Maybe they felt it was too depressing and didn't want to drag it out. That is weird...

In real life, the Ingalls had a baby boy who died in infancy. Yes, it was strange to have Charles Jr. in just one episode, but he is mentioned a lot in future episodes. What's even more strange is when Laura runs away, she goes to the mountains, but Minnesota is as flat as a pancake.

You're right old grouch. Here is a link that tells a little more about Charles Jr.

I've always liked that episode. Many children (adults too) wish bad things that do happen. For example, you might secretly wish that someone would die or be hurt, and when it happens you feel terrible. You always hear about people that have arguments and before it can be resolved one of them dies. This episode gave the message that sometimes bad things happen and even if you wished them to happen, it's not your fault. Laura was the closest to her father and a tomboy so it made sense for her to be jealous of her brother.
