I took the day off today. I thought that I would brew a nice cup of coffee and watch My Coffee With Niles. I usually dislike shows or movies that all take place in one area, but I love this episode. What better place than to spend the entire show time than in my favorite coffee nook.

OMG, I love this episode too, but any episode with the word "Niles" in it has to be wonderful, right?

RIGHT!! Right, right, right. :D

This is one of my favorites too. Niles is particularly appealing in this episode, plus it's fun to see how far the character has come from this episode, compared to one from season 8, 9, 10, or 11.

I think that this episode is really well written and has lots of great moments in the dialogue, too.

Big Frasier Fan here: but I have trouble remembering anything that was said that was either funny or significant from this episode. Can someone give me a few quotes or refresh my memory about the theme of how the conversation went?

I haven't seen this episode in ages, but here's the script from it. BTW, this site is awesome and I use it a lot when writing fan fiction or when I'm trying to find something that was said in a particular episode.

The gist of the conversation was that Frasier has been in Seattle a whole year now and Niles wants to know if he's happy. But they end up talking about a lot more than that.

Of course, as a big Niles fan, I love the moment when they decide to change the subject and Niles takes a drink of coffee right when Frasier says "are you in love with Daphne?" It's just one year into the series so his reaction and answer is so cute.

I also love the moment when Niles says "wow" about Roz's new boyfriend being so handsome and then Frasier teasing him about it...

And when Daphne is getting ready to leave and it's raining and Niles offers her his "bumbershoot" and she thanks him and says that at least someone has an ear for her native tongue and he responds by saying he'll always have an ear for her tongue...

And I love it when Niles is leaving with Martin and he says "as always, Frasier, it was a pleasure meeting you for coffee," and Martin says "what do guys talk about all the time, anyway?" and Niles says something like "oh, cars, chicks, monster truck rallies..." and Martin answers "fine, don't tell me."

That's all I can think of off the top of my head, but really, this whole episode is good.

I love that scene where Frasier asked Niles if he was in love with Daphne too! I'm gonna have to watch this episode again. I love it! But I don't really need an excuse to watch Niles! :)

That is a hoot, isn't it? I find myself laughing out loud even when I know it's coming. That says a lot for that scene.

"Oh, why did you have to hire Venus herself? Couldn't you have found some beefy, East-European scrub woman who reeked of ammonia?"

That would have been awesome if Daphne had been there to see that! Can you imagine?

It would have been, although somehow I don't know if she still would have gotten the hint or not. Sometimes, especially when I first started watching the show, I couldn't understand at all how she could NOT see that Niles had a crush on her. Sometimes it was really, really obvious and she still didn't seem to know. Of course I know she was written that way, but still--

Just like in Moon Dance when she tells Niles that he's a great actor and that they fooled everyone. She looks away as his expression "tells-it-all" that he wasn't acting at all.

OK, Andrea, do I even have to say what I'm thinking here? Yeah, I didn't think so! ;) BTW, I love this scene as well. And I love the whole "real time" aspect, b/c it's almost like a mini-play, rather than a sitcom!

I was thinking the same thing! *pokes Andrea* That would make a good story! :)

Okay, okay... I get it. I really should learn to watch what I type, shouldn't I? But then again I haven't done a story on that episode yet! ;)
