Was there anything symbolic behind it. I noticed in every episode, she has a rose on her desk. I just wondered why?

It was probably just there for a little touch of femininity in a mostly-male dominated newsroom. I don't think there was anything symbolic about it, but I have a fake rose on my desk here in my room, and I like to think of it as my "Mary rose." :lol: :)

And in "Ted Over Heels," Ted repeatedly tries to steal Mary's rose off her desk to give to Betty, Chuckles' daughter. :)
