I made them out of plastic canvas. For those that don't know, that is a type of sewing. I made the pattern myself several years back for my sister who LOVES dominoes.
I was making 3 more the past few months when I read in Lisa'a journal that, like the true Texas she is, she LOVES playing 42. That was the reason I made it for my sister, so I decided to make a set for Lisa as well. It's not really hard to do, it is just really time consuming. First you have to cut out all 168 pieces plus the box that it goes in. Then you have to put the dots on each piece. Next you have to fill in the rest of the dominoes with whatever color you are using. Then you have to put them all together.
It takes 2-4 weeks from start to finish if I am doing nothing else at the time.
But it was well worth it to see Lisa's expression when she opened the dominoes.

Ok, I think I get it....so once you piece them all together you have like a hollow knitted box? I can see it in my mind but am not sure how to describe it.
That's really awesome though! I'm sure she'll always hang onto those!

That is probably thr best way to describe them, but they really are pretty sturdy for being hollow because of their size.
