View Full Version : Images from UM that are etched in your brain?
Zlatko 03-20-2012, 02:08 AM Allow me to elaborate. UM possessed some sort of artistic imagery in its segments. IMO, it was more evident in some segments compared to others. This quality declined as the show aged. I will give some examples.
Kurt McFall segment. The one image I have in my mind from this case is Kurt's father looking at his son's grave with Mount Diablo in the background. This scene has always haunted me in way. It mixes beauty with sadness. Perhaps that's why it's the one image that stands out for me.
Anna Anton segment - The one image that stands out from this segment is the shot of Gregg Webb holding Anna's body. It was a reenactment but it was still eerie.

1990 UM fan 03-20-2012, 06:16 AM - The corpse in the steamer trunk (Jasper Watkins)
- "Shirley" running into Dana Satterfield's killer at the liquor store
- The I-70 killer confronting the 2 store clerks with a gun
- The sunset in the Dwayne McCorkendale episode
- The burning buildings in the Seattle arsonist episode
- When the Colorado killers shot Dale Claxton in his patrol car

RobinW 03-20-2012, 11:20 AM Ironically, one image from UM that was etched in my brain and kept me awake when I was a kid was the ghostly head appearing on the counter in the General Wayne Inn, but of course, the whole thing looks pretty silly today.
However, some images that will always remain frightening:
-the 3-D composite sketch of the Blind River Rest Stop Killer
-the Polaroid in the Tara Calico case
-the security camera image that provides a partial glimpse of the assailant standing next to Matthew Chase
-Patricia Meehan's self-portrait photograph
-all the ominous shots of the strange things (the open patio door, the phone off the hook, etc.) in Aileen Conway's home after her husband comes home
-the alien composite sketches in the Allagash Abductions case (especially with the creepy music and the audio from the hypnosis sessions playing over them!)
Thelittleman 03-20-2012, 09:42 PM RobinW, that's exactly what I was just about to say. It's a cheap effect but when I was a kid that ghost head scared the crap outta me!

I think the ghostly boy on the counter and the ghost heads in the Rosemary Altea segment are the freakiest.
XCalibur 03-21-2012, 12:33 AM I've never seen this mentioned on here, but one of the ghost segments UM did was about this really old house that was supposed to be haunted. I think two different families encountered two different sets of spirits.
One of them was a ghost who was supposed to be named Samuel. This lady was taking photos of her kids, and one of them was a creepy ghost image of Samuel's face, with the whole background darkened. That image has always been burned in my brain. I think they had people analyze the photographs and no one could say for certain how the image was formed, they suspected that the family might have fabricated the photo by photographing their TV screen.
Either way, it was a very unsettling and creepy image, even though they felt Samuel was supposed to be a good ghost. Anyone else remember that?
Jediknight1823 03-21-2012, 11:27 AM - The composite of Michaela Garret's abductor. Thanks Unsolved Mysteries for scaring me for life.

TheCars1986 03-21-2012, 12:34 PM I always thought one of the children took a picture of the television which is what that image was.

This. Except that I still think it's really creepy and thus still scary for me. I consider this the most lasting image of UM and I consider that one with the 4 ghost segment as THE episode of Unsolved Mysteries.
SageSlowdive 03-22-2012, 03:00 PM The Blind River Killer composite
WishfulDreamer 03-22-2012, 07:18 PM The ATV woods on Signal Mountain
Keith Reinhard setting out for his walk
Lyle Moody holding a bag and angrily climbing into a pickup truck
Corkys-Place 03-23-2012, 12:02 AM The Polaroid Photo of the 2 Kids bound and gagged.
The different composite sketches in the Son of Sam Case. This was one of the first Episodes I ever saw and very frightening to a 12 year old.
Those Scary Bikers confronting Gus Hoffman in the middle of the Road in broad daylight.
SheRaaa 03-24-2012, 04:55 PM Philip Frasier driving down the highway through the Canadian wilderness
The very creepy shadows on the wall in the Black Hope Curse segment
The garage on fire in the Tallman's Ghost segment
The empty dock in the Wanda Mays segment
The eerie photo of the boys on the tracks when they were still alive, smiling for the camera
The aforementioned eerie self-portrait photo of Patricia Meehan
UMFaninMD 03-24-2012, 09:07 PM I have a lot but here is a short list:
The composite of "Sam" from the Beverly McGowan case.
The composites of the victims of the Ohio Prostitute Killer.
The entire Tallman segment.
"I LOVE YOU CINDY" BY G.W. from the Cynthia Anderson case.
The opening shot of the houses and the scary piano music in the Doreen Picard case.
The letter from Nyleen Kay Marshall's kidnapper.
The entire Circleville Letter segment.
SheRaaa 03-25-2012, 09:41 AM I just thought of a few more:
The yellowish photo of Rachel Runyan...she seemed like a bright, happy little girl, but the picture comes across as very sad
The unintentionally scary photo of the other victim in the Angela Hammond case (I believe the photo is of this girl in a wedding dress? She has lots of dark eye makeup on and the effect is quite scary!)
MegtheEgg86 03-25-2012, 11:27 AM I have several:
-The reenactment of Kevin Ives and Don Henry walking through the woods with that flashlight and the footage of the braking train with Curtis Henry's voiceover: "I don't think no one could sleep through that kind of noise."
-The aerial shots of the "vast Wyoming prairie" in the opening scenes of the Don Kemp segment
-The reenactment of Cheryl Kinney watching her probable (and off-camera) abductor pull up and wash her in his headlights in the Angela Hammond segment
-Cynthia Jabour's friend Sue walking into her far-too-still apartment in the Robert Weeks segment
-Kevin Hughes being gunned down
-Doreen Picard's killer hiding the pipe in the apartment hallway closet
-Patricia Meehan's stare after her car accident (freaked me out for weeks)
-The lineup of photos of the NH serial killer victims
-The sunset behind the cross erected where Fr. Reynaldo Rivera was found at the end of that segment
-The "crazy from Detroit" shuffling away from the record store and disappearing around the corner of the building
-Dr. John Branion walking around the prison yard
-Ed Baker saying, "Here's the kicker--here's the kicker, Frank..."
-The excerpt from Gail Delano's diary at the end of that segment.
-The reenactment of "Debbie" seeing herself in that Mylar balloon
-Dub Wackerhagen segment: "I don't know why you have to make such a damn big deal about it!"
-The slow walk up to Kathy Bonderson's grave
-The wind blowing over the prairie grass at the end of the Christi Nichols segment as RS speculates on what might have happened to her
-And the most memorable of all: the scenes of the Conways' empty house, with the wind stirring the curtains over the open window, the garden hose running in the pool, the iron on the ironing board, and the phone off the hook by the full bathtub.
WishfulDreamer 03-25-2012, 03:12 PM You guys, it's raining today and perfect for some U.M.! Thanks for giving me ideas about which segments I should revisit! :)
TheCars1986 03-25-2012, 06:51 PM The guy in camo gear (in the Ives/Henry segment) walking down that desolate road and out of nowhere begins to shoot at the passing police officer...it's got to be one of the scariest moments in UM history!
MegtheEgg86 03-26-2012, 09:07 AM The guy in camo gear (in the Ives/Henry segment) walking down that desolate road and out of nowhere begins to shoot at the passing police officer...it's got to be one of the scariest moments in UM history!
Oh yeah. If you watch closely when he turns to shoot you'll see he's got some kind of cloth or something concealing his face, too. ((shudders))
WishfulDreamer 03-26-2012, 08:53 PM The case where the guy shot his ex-wife's boyfriend and her; she was coming out of the shower and after he shot her, she grabbed the shower curtain and the rings ripped out, which is what I clearly remember even though I haven't seen the segment in years. Does anyone remember his name?
soilentgreen 03-28-2012, 12:04 PM The composites of the victims of the Ohio Prostitute Killer.
Agreed.
-The reenactment of Cheryl Kinney watching her probable (and off-camera) abductor pull up and wash her in his headlights in the Angela Hammond segment
-Patricia Meehan's stare after her car accident (freaked me out for weeks)
Patricia Meehan observing the accident silently, then going off into the darkness, is probably one of the most disturbing UM images.
George Owen's conversation with the store clerk.
Kurt Sova's parents finding the empty cot in the basement.
Audrey Moate fleeing in terror after Thomas Hotard was shot.
SP4CE INV4DERZ 03-28-2012, 11:40 PM Way too many but here's two off th etop of my head;
Those girls killed in their Basement in Rhode Island, their heads stuck between the washing machine!!
That black guy running up and then down a hill after killing a woman in the night.
Gee I used to be so good with the names, oh well :(

you wouldn't be referring to the Veronica Jefferson murder would you?
That was another one...... at the end of the segment, they showed the actor who played Veronica's killer running towards the camera with police lights behind him, and all the while one of the detectives working on the case saying in the background they would keep on it until this guy was caught, that was really freaky, it almost looked like they designed that to put fear into the killer in case he was watching. It was strange I'd never seen them do anything like that, does anyone remember this?
And ironically, the murdered WAS eventually caught. Can't remember his first name but his last name was Prieto and I think he was given a death sentence. Very ironic, I bet that freaked him out if he watched the segment! would have served the scumbag right.

I remember! And yes, I'm so glad Prieto is in jail. That piece of filth is a horrible human being.

amandab1234 04-07-2012, 10:10 PM Thanks for scaring the living daylights out of me  lol
Some segments that come to mind:
-Resurrection Mary's black face
-The Hit and Run suspect in North Carolina (the one they believe was a "hate crime"
-The Blind River segment
-Nyleen Kay Marshall's mother's last words"Sure it looks like Im having a good time but Im looking for my daughter"
Zlatko 04-08-2012, 05:18 PM -The picture of the shack where Scott Johnson and his friend died. Very eerie.
LaurierCrimmajor 04-08-2012, 05:32 PM The shot of Greg Webb carrying Anna Anton out into the field is haunting to my core.
There's also a really nice picture of Danny Casolaro shown in his story which always makes me sad.
SheRaaa 04-08-2012, 09:15 PM The smiling (yet horribly sad) photo of Lauren Jackson they show for a long time at the end of the segment
The (actual) photo of Eugene Kvet's legs/feet in the Kurt Sova segment
1990 UM fan 04-14-2012, 01:09 PM I also think the part where it showed Kevin Ives and Don Henry walking through the woods in the dark almost toward the end of the episode was powerful.
crystaldawn 04-15-2012, 07:55 AM Gretchen Burford after being attacked running away saying "he stabbed me!." :(
PrettyinPink55 04-16-2012, 11:41 PM That creepy picture of the mysterious house guest, Christopher Chichester for some reason completely gives me the heebie jeebies every time!! The original UM had just the right music with it!!
XCalibur 04-17-2012, 12:59 AM Unsolved Mysteries was definitely designed to scare you a little bit. At least a lot of the segments were.
But thats good, I've observed most people get a thrill out of being a little scared.
Admit it, wasn't there a lot of segments that made you check and make sure the doors were locked and look back to make sure someone wasn't sneaking up behind you?

It was so that the images would get burned into your brain. So that if you see someone that was wanted, you wouldn't rack your brain as to where you saw them. You'd know it right away.
PrettyinPink55 04-18-2012, 12:39 AM Admit it, wasn't there a lot of segments that made you check and make sure the doors were locked and look back to make sure someone wasn't sneaking up behind you?
 Most definitely!!! Especially when I watch it at night!!
Pavo Australis 04-18-2012, 12:55 AM Hello, I'm a n00bie. I'm a UM fan from Western Australia. Used to watch reruns on TV here; now I watch old episodes on YouTube. I've been lurking for a couple of months, reading old updates and theories etc. I think I have an overactive brain and probably hope that one day I'll get some great flash of insight that will solve an old case, which is highly unlikely considering the miles between here and the US, but I guess anything is possible! :)
I always get a chill during the Angela Hammond re-enactment when Rob hears her scream out the window. I feel so badly for him.
TheCars1986 04-19-2012, 01:52 PM The shot of Greg Webb carrying Anna Anton out into the field is haunting to my core.
This is one for me as well.
WishfulDreamer 04-19-2012, 06:11 PM Son of Sam running up to the two girl talking on a stoop
mikewho 04-19-2012, 11:52 PM There's one picture that sticks out in my mind even to this day. The computer pic of the suspect in the blind river murders. That guy was eerie.
Zlatko 04-20-2012, 01:48 AM There's one picture that sticks out in my mind even to this day. The computer pic of the suspect in the blind river murders. That guy was eerie.Yeah, I must say, the guy looked absolutely soul-less. A classic mark of a psychopath.
Thiussat 04-20-2012, 02:12 AM There's a lot of them for me, but I will go by the most recent ones that stick out based on my re-watching of episodes.
Right now for me it is when Patricia Meehan comes over and begins staring at the woman she just collided with on the highway. Damn, I get chills and shakes and I am a grown man. I mean UM scares me way more than almost any horror film. Seriously. I don't know what it is they do. Maybe it's just the music combined with the grainy film from the 80's. Maybe it's also knowing that this stuff actually happened.
BTW, there is also a funny moment in the Patricia Meehan segment. When it shows her hitchhiking, one of the trucks that picks her up has "BJ trucking" on it's door.

The picture she took of herself in the mirror also comes to mind. That always creeped me out.
Clockworkhigh 04-21-2012, 11:25 AM The New Hampshire Serial killer segment literally gave me nightmares as a young 10 year old boy. The photos of the slain women, the attack of the pregnant woman, the fact that she drove so fast after she recovered from the attack that she eventually caught up to the attacker again. How haunting.
The Nyleen Kay Marshall case saddens me. Maybe because if she is alive (and I believe she is) she would never know her real parents. She would never trust her real parents and would think of her attacker as her father. And the letters sent about how they've travelled and how "no one checks passports anyway." I guess it is a sad reminder of just how much simpiler things were in 1983. In Nyleen's case she was 3 and she was playing with a bunch of kids in what looked like a wooded area nearby where there was a large picnic gathering of her parents and other people. I guess its sad just how you never thought anything of a situation like that back then, and there was a little more trust with everyone, not like today, where you would hyperventilate if your child walked home from school alone.
SheRaaa 04-21-2012, 05:45 PM Another one:
The sunny, smiley picture of the Swedish hitchhikers they show. I guess because the picture is so happy (and so literally bright) it just makes it that much more horrible, because you know they probably endured a horrible and dark demise :(
MegtheEgg86 04-22-2012, 10:58 AM Right now for me it is when Patricia Meehan comes over and begins staring at the woman she just collided with on the highway. Damn, I get chills and shakes and I am a grown man.
I didn't sleep well for about two weeks after I saw that segment for the first time. Even now I still have to look away sometimes when I re-watch it.
SheRaaa 12-28-2012, 10:17 PM Another haunting UM image is the very beginning of the Dorothy Allison segment, when they show the little boy running next to the creek (I believe he fell in and drowned?)
The burning car in the Ed Baker segment
Tammy Leppert smashing that big glass window
The little girl just standing in the hallway alone in the Doreen Picard/Susan Laferte segment
dynoguy88 12-28-2012, 11:01 PM *Mikki Jo West walking off to work and her eventual abduction. (Something horrible like that happening on a regular suburb block in broad daylight is still hard to imagine.)
*Garrett Robinson running out of the Fish Springs, Nevada house to see the front door open and shut repeatedly and then the ghostly face appearing at the window. (I was 10 the night this episode first aired and I didn't sleep all night.)
*The man on skis discovering Bobby Oberholtzer's body far off in the distance.
*The silhouette of Veronica Jefferson's killer running in slow motion.
*Gregory Barker ordering Hilda Roche out of his truck and then leading her into the woods to kill her.
*Angela Hammond and her abductor driving off into the night after Rob's car had broken down.
*The Signal Mountain killer lifting his rifle to kill Richard Mason, Earl Smock and Kenneth Griffith. And then Earl Smock trying to escape on foot only to be shot again. (That was another sleepless night.)
*The threatening notes left on Cindy James' doorstep.
*The killer of Gretchen Burford leaping from the back seat to cover her mouth. (I've been driving for 16 years and despite always locking my doors, no matter what time of day it is, I have this need to check my backseat before entering my car.)
*The shot of Dennis DePue burying the bloody blanket at the school yard.
*The green truck closing in on Tara Calico.
*The car following Kathy Bonderson as she drove over the bridge.
*The shot of the woman who is believed to be Lisa Ziegert and her killers driving into the woods where her body would be found.
*The man seen at Rhonda Hinson's car.
*The entire sequence of the killer entering Jeanie Tovrea's house and his route to her bedroom.
Spark Of Spirit 12-29-2012, 01:55 AM John Harden coming out of the house at midnight to receive a full on shotgun blast was not only eerie but so were the circumstances surrounding his murder.
Of all the cases on UM I saw as a kid, that one plays in my mind the most.
SheRaaa 12-29-2012, 06:47 PM *The shot of the woman who is believed to be Lisa Ziegert and her killers driving into the woods where her body would be found.
I recently re-watched this segment and yes, that is a very memorable image.
1990 UM fan 12-30-2012, 04:28 AM I also want to add that the scene where the Connecticut River killer snatches Jane from her car sticks in my head.
Killer: That phone work?
Jane: Uh, I don't know
*killer opens car door*
Jane: Hey, hey, come on, leave me alone, no, (inaudible), (screams)

Yes! There's also the HORRIFYING scene as he leaves Jane for dead, then showly drives away and just stares at her.....oh my lord is that disturbing.
WishfulDreamer 12-30-2012, 06:01 PM Yes! There's also the HORRIFYING scene as he leaves Jane for dead, then showly drives away and just stares at her.....oh my lord is that disturbing.
Her catching up to him while driving is also hard to forget, as well as him coming back and only driving away when her male friend comes out of the house to assist her.
Hockeygirl 12-30-2012, 06:44 PM There's the police drawing of a serial rapist or murderer. There's also a recording of his voice when he calls one of his victims. (I think) Just the whispering and the "I'm gonna get you" Scared the crap out of me.

It was the EAR criminal. There's a chilling recording of it up on YT. I was mistaken, he said "kill you" still creepy.
pinkprincess 12-30-2012, 10:55 PM The creepy image that sticks out in my memory is seeing the ghost of Julia Staab in the mirror in of the hotel bathrooms.

You're right! I just remembered that I watched that same video some time ago myself.  I thought you meant in the UM segment, which was already scary enough on its own haha. If they had included the recording in the segment I think I would have had nightmares! This is seriously one of the scariest cases ever. The composite drawings of his open mouth, the voice recordings, home invasion while people are sleeping, etc. I'll never forget reading about one of the SoCal victims who had a friend over right before being killed. He thought he heard funny noises and she said it was just the washing machine making noise. After the friend left, he attacked her. Can't believe they still haven't caught him!

I wonder what became of the Original Night Stalker/East Area rapist? He hasn't been heard from since Janelle Cruz's murder in 1986. Perhaps he is in prison somewhere, or was killed trying to rape and murder another couple. He could've even stopped and blended in with society by having a family and settling down.

Sorry, my bad. I couldn't remember all the details, just that it was a very eerie call. I'm shocked he hasn't been caught yet. I'm hoping he's in jail (for the rest of his life or dead.)
Does anyone know if there was any DNA he left behind, could the cops run in through the computer to see if there's a match ?

Don't worry it's basically the same thing you posted but EAR looks mesmerized rather than angry. Scary, but not the steamer trunk or anything. I tried to post the picture rather than just the link but the post wouldn't let me. It's already been posted in the scariest composite thread and you can find it here.

WishfulDreamer 12-31-2012, 02:14 AM Sorry, my bad.
I know they had his DNA because that's how they figured out he went from Northern California serial rapist to Southern California serial killer. I would hope they would have it in CODIS so they can match him to other crimes.I really think he's probably done more than they think he has, as is often the case with these kind of guys.
1990 UM fan 12-31-2012, 02:24 AM Don't worry it's basically the same thing you posted but EAR looks mesmerized rather than angry. Scary, but not the steamer trunk or anything. I tried to post the picture rather than just the link but the post wouldn't let me. It's already been posted in the scariest composite thread and you can find it here.

Thank God, because I was thinking the worst on that one

Yeah, I really hope no one ever puts that one on here. CD said she would remove it if anyone did, I think, so I'm hopeful things stay that way! I haven't seen it in over a decade and I don't remember it and don't want to!

Good, because no one deserves to be nightmare-stricken by that. I had to see the computer-generated composite of him when I put his case from the Wiki on my Unsolved Mysteries page on Facebook. That alone is scary to view. I just used the family photo of him and not the composite on my page, I would've hated to see that everytime I look there.
MegtheEgg86 01-01-2013, 11:03 AM Keith Reinhard heading towards his mountain and the semi-sad music that plays over that scene.
The "man in military fatigues" walking down the road.
John Branion walking across the prison yard.
John Callahan walking through the airport in Florida.
The shooting scene from the Jack Brown segment.
The opening scene from the John Burns segment.
Necco 01-04-2013, 04:49 PM The passion on Henry Rollins' face
He was perhaps the most compelling person they ever interviewed, in my opinion.

I just watched that segment today. Listening to him tell that (tragic) story was like reading a novel, as off-color as that probably sounds. : /
The Third Man 01-09-2013, 03:44 PM Henry Rollins does a lot of spoken-word concerts. If you ever get a chance to go see him, go--he is one of the most compelling speakers around.
SheRaaa 01-14-2013, 08:45 PM I don't know if this has been mentioned, but there is an extremely disturbing re-creation of Dave Bocks being lowered into a vat of whatever that substance was...it doesn't show him actually being dropped-in but it does show a guy being hanged by his feet. NOT good.:eek2:
There's also the camera slowly zooming-out of Charles Morgen's crumpled body near his car in the southwestern desert.
MegtheEgg86 01-14-2013, 11:53 PM Dan Short, tied to a chair, being pushed off the bridge into the river.
Oooga Chucka 01-17-2013, 10:31 AM * For some reason, the image of the medical examiner's office in "Mobile, Alabama," during the Gail Delano update has always stayed with me. In all fairness, it is probably the accompanying tragic resolution, creepy update music, and tone of RS's voice that make the visual so memorable.
* The notes in the Micki Jo West case, as well as the "GET THE MESSAGE" note in the Wacker case. Actually, all epistolary forms of communication on the show freaked me out, at least when they were written by the perpetrators.
* When I watched the Stephen Marfeo segment, they were about to show an update when the screen kind of skipped, and another Lifetime update was shown stating that Stephen killed himself after shooting his girlfriend and to Google for more information. I've never forgotten that - I'm actually getting goose bumps writing about it.
Boss Don 01-17-2013, 01:49 PM Dorothy Donovan's killer walking past her house
Blind river rest stop killer holding the two shotguns before he killed Gord's wife
Kurt Sova's dad walking in that basement
Angela Hammond at the pay phone
the girl running through the graveyard and hiding behind tombstones
Megan Curl's foot tied to the burned bed
Richard's rampage when he walks up the stairs in the shadows
the guy at the flat hills inn/rest stop in Canada (I think that was the name) pulling off and his hitchhike/killer chasing after the car before getting in
the guy in the las vegas house jumping from out of the shadows and attacking the guy who was renting it to him
hell, too many to name.
rerungirl 01-17-2013, 02:07 PM Lots of great posts here but two more that come to mind.
The voice of the police dispatcher trying to make radio contact with the firefighters who died at a Kansas City construction site...while we're shown images of the aftermath of the explosion.
Can't remember the victim's name, but UM profiled the murder of a young girl who liked to go to a local pet shop and visit the animals. Something about the reenactment and the way the girl looked so happy and innocent has been hard to forget.

That segment also contains another "etched into my mind" scene: David Harry Fisher running away from the prison in that blue denim prisoner get-up, towards a set of power lines.

Oh my goodness, yes.
SheRaaa 01-17-2013, 11:46 PM Saw the John Burns (pre-Stack special) segment again recently and one of the very first images in the segment is of Burns blasting away his mistress with a shotgun in slow motion. Plus, you also have the grainy photos they keep showing, emphasizing that "these are the only 2 photos known to exist of John Burns."
Quite memorable.
DetailsTellAll 01-18-2013, 01:00 AM The scene in the Dick Hansen segment where "jean" slams on her brakes to throw off the guy following them and he slams on his brakes too.....and in the same segment when the guy shoots Dick and Jean gets out of the car, looks down at Dick's body and then looks straight at the murderer and they stare at each other. OMG:eek:
Also, the Connecticut River Valley Killer segment, the moment when the pregnant woman the killer stabbed like 30 times, accidentally catches up with his car when she tried to drive to her friend's house for help.
The Jesslyn Rich/Frontera Prison segment, when Jesslyn is at the bar with friends and she excuses herself to go to the bathroom..the moment when she turns the corner into the back hallway and you see a guy following her.

Sorry, I can't help myself...I'm posting it. Here's the infamous "steamer trunk" photo!

WishfulDreamer 03-03-2013, 07:45 AM Michael Henley's father yelling his name from a truck while searching for him.
Tara Calico being followed by a truck, too intent on her music and bike riding to notice.
giantsfan82 03-03-2013, 10:12 AM The entire Annette Burnside death scene did it for me!
mikewho 03-04-2013, 12:42 PM Two that stand out are the suspect computer sketch of the blind river killer, and also the guy in the 49er license plate case where he pulled up behind them.
kinghere1 03-07-2013, 11:56 PM Those guy surrounding the car in Kimberly Pandeleous case.
The burning house and the guy saying Omar!

The 3D Blind River Rest Stop Killer sketch
The mom and child laying dead in the field on Christmas Eve
Ethel Kidd tied to the tree.
UnsolvedMFanatic 03-11-2013, 12:35 AM Oh boy,so many! But most definitely the photo of Jasper Watkins, the eldely gentleman who was found in a trunk near a park. It was his post-mortem photo taken during autopsy because they did not yet know the identity of the victim. It was so creepy,I loved it more than any other one photo every on the show.
They leater identified his as Jasper Watkins, and some bitch his "caretaker" killed him for his social security checks. Horrible rotten bitch. And the post-mortem photo they showed on the show of him,to me looked quite a bit different than the picture of him they showed after he was identified in a follow-up segment, still alive and smiling. I almost wish I never saw that follow-up because sseing that adorable elderly man (they called him elderly,he didn't look necessarily "elderly" to me),but he was so sweet and happy looking, then to know what what was done to him,it makes my heart break for him, which in turn takes all the air out my enjoyment of the creepy autopsy photo I love so much.
And of course every single picture of Tammi Lynn Leppert they showed. Besides being my favorite case,he photos are just so stunning they are literally burned in my brain forever...all of them. Of course I also often post some of those pictures frequently on my FB in the increadebly rediculous glimmer of hope that maybe someone knows where she is,or what happened to her. (Hey,a girl can dream, right?!)
The Bonnie Wilder segment where she's walking through the department store of course.
Most of all the words; "They think the WORD is in the safe. Six knives in Rob's room. Yous buys your tea and yous take your chances Halloween",are forever burned into my brain, just as they appeared on the screen during the segment. Sometimes I go to bed at night, close my eyes and see those words and try to work myself up into a freaked-out,scared frenzy, just because I like it. (Hey,some people collect stamps,my hobby isn't all that different) :woohoo:
:jar:
Apostapler 05-26-2013, 11:32 PM Dorothy Donovan's killer walking past her house
UGH! That one gave me nightmares.
Unidentified man (now identified) falling through the sky from the airplane wing.
The composite sketches of the unidentified victims of the Ohio prostitute killer.
Kenneth Robert Stanton standing on that girl's front porch.
Roger Roxas being tortured by Marcos' goons.
Necco 05-27-2013, 12:53 AM This is more of a sound than an image, but dispatch trying to reach the Kansas City firefighters.
MegtheEgg86 05-27-2013, 03:44 AM The hypnosis scene from the NH serial killer segment--and the end of the segment, with the assailant leaving the scene in his Wagoneer, with that ice-cold expression on his face. It was edited to run in slow motion, and I think it's one of the most memorable UM images of all time.
Corkys-Place 06-07-2013, 08:50 PM The photograph of Brad Bishop's 3 Sons. I'm probably alone here but I find the photo creepy given the weird angle it was taken from. I think they also had the actual photo sitting on the table during the UM re-enactment which just added to the spook factor!
WishfulDreamer 09-26-2013, 11:17 PM The man believed to be Gordon Collins wandering around on a beach after receiving a colorful blanket from a fisherman.
I agree with the above mention of the photograph in the Brad Bishop case. And although of course it wasn't shown, the graphic details about the case and the attack on the eldest son is hard not to imagine.
Ricardo Caputo walking the streets after being put in a hospital that allowed him to do such things. Same to him using the payphone with blood on his hands.
Mike Reimer and Diana Robertson and Crystal leaving for the woods.
Amy Billig leaving her house, only to vanish.
TheCars1986 09-27-2013, 09:51 AM That creepy Native American walking slowly in the Devil's Backbone segment.
soilentgreen 09-27-2013, 12:25 PM The composite of the unidentified woman found murdered in New Orleans.
The scenes of the abandoned car that Mike Rosenblum was driving and when it's being towed off. It's also pretty poignant when Maurice Rosenblum discusses how he was still hoping to locate his son, but that it was just too late.
Dexter Stefonek's car burning at the rest area.
WishfulDreamer 03-12-2014, 06:23 AM Don Kemp walking into the Western museum and the attache case left on the floor.
LooksLikeCRicci 03-12-2014, 01:05 PM The last picture of Marie Hilley (in black and white with her hiding her face when she was arrested so you could only see her eyes.)
Haunting.
