View Full Version : Get Ready For 'Home Alone....5!?!' I Had No Idea There Was A 3 & 4???
Brian Damage 03-16-2012, 11:54 PM ABC Family and Fox TV Studios will make the TV movie "Home Alone 5: Alone in the Dark," the story of 8-year-old Finn (Christian Martyn), Deadline.com reports.
In the latest installment of the feature film and TV movie series, Finn learns that his family is moving into a spooky Maine house that he's convinced is haunted. Through a set of circumstances, Finn and his sister find themselves home alone and under siege by a group of thieves.
Malcolm McDowell, Debi Mazar and Eddie Steeples are playing the crooks. Also in the cast is Emmy winner Ed Asner.
"Home Alone 5" will joing the lineup of ABC Family's "25 Days of Christmas," the story reports.
The original three "Home Alone" films were on the big screen, but the most recent entry was a TV movie called "Home Alone 4: Taking Back the House."

duckie 03-17-2012, 12:08 AM I dont believe 3 and 4 had any original actors from HA 1 and 2.
JamesG 03-18-2012, 06:00 PM What happened with Home Alone 3 is that Macaulay Culkin was offered the chance to reprise for it sometime in the mid-90s. He was not into it at all because he grew tired of the role and, at the time, he became frustrated with acting.
So FOX went with a whole new script and whole new cast for the unrelated third film that came out in 1997.
Home Alone 3 is now known for being one of the early works of a young Scarlett Johansson.
Home Alone 4 was an awful made-for-tv flick that aired on ABC in late 2002. It features the same character names from the first 2 flicks but uses different actors.
Daniel Stern was asked to reprise his role as 'Marv' and after looking at the script he said, "it is an insult, total garbage."
I heard that it was supposed to be one of those "tv-movie pilots" that would lead into a tv series based on it. That never happened since Home Alone 4 did so poorly.
retrofan05 03-18-2012, 06:10 PM The first two were obviously the best. I remember going to see Home Alone 3 with my 5th grade class when it came out and I thought it was pretty funny too. I don't think I ever saw the fourth one, but I heard it was pretty terrible.
Mr. Television 03-18-2012, 08:37 PM I've never seen Home Alone 3 and 4.
JamesG 03-19-2012, 09:31 AM The first two were obviously the best. I remember going to see Home Alone 3 with my 5th grade class when it came out and I thought it was pretty funny too. I don't think I ever saw the fourth one, but I heard it was pretty terrible.
I also saw Home Alone 3 in the theater back when it first came out. I haven't seen it since then, but I did like it at the time. I thought the part where he taped the camera to the remote control car throughout the house was so cool.
As for Home Alone 4... no. I saw the promos for it when it was going to be aired and it looked so bad, D-Rated.
I haven't heard one positive thing about it.
Regulus 03-20-2012, 08:03 AM 1 2 & 3 are HILARIOUS (Especially No. 2)  :rotflmao: :brent
As for the fourth one, puke: BLECCH! :barf:
ShamelessFanGirl 03-20-2012, 10:58 PM Is it really necessary to make another one? Even though I have never seen the fourth one, I did see bits and pieces of the third one and thought it was stupid. They should have just left it with the Macaulay Culkin films.
Regulus 03-21-2012, 08:09 AM John Hughes Directed the First Three HA Movies and it showed. No. 4 was NOT directed by him, and it FELL APART. Since Mr. Hughes is :rip: DECEASED :rip: I'll place $2.00 on HA 5 to CRASH AND BURN!!!
MrCleveland 03-24-2012, 03:32 PM Home Alone 1 and 2 were great, Home Alone 3 sucked, and I've never seen Home Alone 4...so don't expect me to see the next one!
howierules86 03-24-2012, 03:40 PM I thought both Home Alone 3 and 4 were nothing but complete duds, IMO. Both of those movies didn't relate whatsoever to the first (and best) one at all (the second one did and was just as great, however).
icecream 03-24-2012, 05:54 PM I bet ABCFamily makes it an all-day event with the first four films leading into the premiere of #5.
Tubehead 03-25-2012, 11:58 PM i watch part of home alone3 it wwasn't too bad i never wathc the 4 one. i heard if Macaulay Culkin did home alone 3 he would have been a teeanger. ijust read that some where.
catlover79 03-26-2012, 12:27 AM Can we say - :horse:
duckie 03-26-2012, 12:51 AM Home Alone 1 and 2 were great, Home Alone 3 sucked, and I've never seen Home Alone 4...so don't expect me to see the next one!
Same here, you took the words right out of my mouth.

I remember cracking up at the part when he drove the remote control car through the laundry and it came out with a bra covering it. LOL! Oh, to be 11 again :)
JamesG 03-26-2012, 06:47 PM I've been puke: at how bad Home Alone 4 looks.
It's a disgrace. Where did they get this kid from?

I remember when he had the tv remote and he was changing the old woman's tv channels.
He changed it to some X-Rated movie and she was horrified.
(since it's a kid's film I don't think it was X-Rated but it was supposed to be some risque music video or something)
JamesG 04-06-2012, 02:43 PM John Hughes Directed the First Three HA Movies and it showed.
John Hughes wrote and produced the first three movies, but he did not direct.
1 and 2 were directed by Chris Columbus and 3 was directed by Raja Gosnell.
