View Full Version : 'Two & A Half Men' May Be Cancelled As A Top 10 Hit Because It Is Too Expensive?!

Could it be that "Two and a Half Men" is a victim of its own success? HollywoodLife is reporting that producers might just sack the sitcom because it can't afford the high-priced talent.

A source on the show tells the publication, "Right now it's all about the money...CBS would have to give Ashton Kutcher a huge raise to stay on for another season, plus the rest of the cast makes a ton a money already. It might just be worth it to end on a huge note...It's 50/50 at best for renewal"

The show's return has long since been a topic of discussion. Once "Two and a Half Men" proved that it had legs with Kutcher on it, it became clear that the CBS and producers were going to have to pony up plenty to top Kutcher's reported $800,000 per episode rate.

In a CBS press release announcing the 2012-13 season show renewals, "Men" was noticeably absent. But the network says they are in "preliminary discussions" to keep the show on the air.

EP Chuck Lorre has a different take on the matter. While at PaleyFest 2012, he says he believes the program is deserving of a tenth season.

"It's unusual when they cancel a show that's in the top 10," Lorre says. "I think there's hope."

Suzanne Somers was a nut and they got rid of her Diva a$$, just like this show canned Charlie Sheen.

Brian would you give Ashton $800,000 an episode for another season of unfunny nonsense?

Unfunny is a matter of opinion dakert. Me personally, I could care less how much a star makes as long as the quality is there. The show is a top 10 hit and because of that, should be paid accordingly.

If CBS cancels this show, they would have to scrap their plans to have a second night of sitcoms.

I gotta ask, is this show REALLY still a top 10 hit? Nowadays, it averages less viewers than Big Bang Theory (by 4 million viewers), Modern Family, 2 Broke Girls, etc. The ratings haven't been hot in months. Is the ranking inflated because the first two episodes had so many viewers?

It's right now ranked at #11 so that's close enough. I don't know about the demo but it still averages well over a 3 so it's pretty high up there as well.

Let Ashton go and give Two and a Half Men a final 13 episode season to focus on Alan, Jake, Berta, and Evelyn.

I'm confused as to how these ratings are calculated. The show hasn't had 15 million viewers or more since October, It's been dropping steadily ever since then and the last episode had just over 11 million viewers. I got a feeling the show will drop lower than 10 million viewers by the end of the season but we'll see I guess.

I have no problem "spinning off" Alan and his family and letting Ashton Kutcher move on if that is what they want to do. I just think it is ridiculous that CBS is crying poverty with a show that has made them millions upon millions of dollars.

I don't know why they say they have to give the cast huge cast increases. Except for Jon Cryer, most of the cast have hardly been on this season.

This is the worst comedy on TV now that Work It's one hour run has finished. So, yay if this is true!

Exactly!!! I love Mrs. Hamel but she went a little overboard. She played the game a little too crazy. I do like the current season of the show. I do hope that the show can get at least one more season.

High-priced talend can put any TV show in trouble. Now Two and a Half Men is in danger of getting cancelled because of it. At 2012-13, I think it should end. Two and a Half Men Season 10: Final Season. Forget about Les Moonves's claim that the series should last "Many, Many" More Years. It's time to end this show.
