The other day my friend informed that my ex-boyfriend, with whom I had a bad breakup recently, has now hooked-up with this other woman. I laughed and immediately thought of the verbally effervescent Bob Bean...I said to my friend, "well, I know what I had and I'm happy to pass it on."

A true Beanism if there ever was one. Has anyone else ever quoted or referenced UM in their real lives?

When entering a potentially dangerous situation, I tend to say "This is how every missing persons segment of Unsolved Mysteries started..."

Anytime I hear a noise or something "unnatural" happens in my house I'll say out loud, "Bill?" in reference to the Bill Beatty haunted house segment.

I sometimes use the quote "somebody, somewhere, knows the truth", which I think is along the lines of something Robert Stack used to say at the end of each show.

I quote movie lines and TV all the time. Most people think it makes me certifiable.

From UM, the quote I probably use most is also from the bean/wheeler segment, just by Co-In-See-Dense.

Mostly, I quote the cartoon Invader Zim. One of the characters watches a tv show that's sort of a bad paranormal version of UM called Mysterious Mysteries of Strange Mystery. No one except my son knows what the heck I'm talking about when I say:

Why was there bacon in the soap!?
Can you GET any shorter?
It's got chicken legs.
It's a skin condition.
I'm dancin like a monkey!
You win.... adhesive medical strips.
Awwwww, my bees.
Piggy, I love-ed you.
He's gettin eatin by a shark.
Shut your noise tube, taco human.
I'm gonna sing the doom song now.

Oh, and your lights are a laugh. :p

I think another funny one is "did you make that French toast?" from the "Direct Contact" episode.

I've used the "he's staring at me like he's about to enjoy a large steak" line before.

Heck yes especially in High School when my friends would try to get me to enter a vehicle with them and I did not know the occupants!! Or a weirdo would "offer me a ride" if I was walking to school or something.........
Also, if I have a shake, I always say, "It look-did like a real shake".......

When I was 12, and UM was profiling the Men in Black shortly before the movie of the same name, I refused to see the movie at the cinema on the grounds it was somehow selling UM short. I'd like a mulligan on that one.

I recently drove by my grandparents former home for the first time in the 6 years since they sold it. I grew up in that home and spent many summers watching unsolved mysteries on lifetime and many NBC episodes as a little kid. Anyway, the new owners demolished it and are building a monstrosity in its place. My brother said he wished it would burn down. I looked at him and said; "This is what I've been doing on your week's vacation."

To which we both busted up laughing.

"Hey man, I can't come into the back room" from the I-70 killer episode is kind of funny.

It's pouring in L.A. today (rare here) and so our cat was a little scared. I picked her up and let her look out the window and instead of saying something about the rain I said, "Listen to the coyotes yell!"

Darn you Omar arsonist!

A workmate of mine has recently been making jokes about forming a religious cult, so when I pass his desk I've taken to exclaiming "praise the lord!!" in Nelson DeCloud stylee...

Probably not the guy one should seek inspiration from...

I've used Robert Stack's awesome line "they know, but they're not telling" several times.

Due to fear, no one will come forward, pops up in my head a lot.

But on a funny note, so does "corpulent conman."

I don't know the episodes well enough to quote (although I do that with X-Files lines), but I have referenced the show many times in real life. It makes me smile and giggle inside.
