View Full Version : Which years did you prefer?
danithang 01-22-2002, 02:30 AM Which school years did you prefer? Middle school, High school, or College.
Personally I think it was better in the middle school years, the high school years were good too. I didn't care for the college years because imo, it got too goofy, plus I didn't like the addition of that tall redheaded girl or that Angela chic.
bonbon 01-23-2002, 05:32 PM I guess I'd have to say High School. Although I really liked the college episodes also. I just think that after middle school their characters really began to develop. It wasn't all about Cory. The middle school years were good too, but I enjoyed the later years better.:)
boymeetsworldfan14 02-03-2002, 10:21 PM In elementry school, the jokes were just funny enough to make you smile. Back then, the show wasn't really anything special. It had it's moments, but it just hadn't really found it's place yet—it was still just like every other show. The high school episodes were the classics! You have to admit that every episode of the 4th season was a masterpiece. The jokes were just perfect and everyone was good-looking. The college epidodes were also very funny, but the kids were starting to get old. Eric cut his hair and put on a little weight which was a sacralidge. It just seemed like the actors weren't having as much fun as they used to. I agree that Maitland Ward didn't add anything good to the show. There was something magical about those high school episodes. Maybe it's just because the characters were the age I am now. Each episode used to be happy and fun. By the last season, it was too serious, and no longer episodic. It was one long story. So, I would have to say the last two years of high school were the best.
FOLrocks1 02-11-2002, 08:53 PM I would say the middle school years. Later on, it got too silly, IMO.
DainGuy 03-11-2002, 02:21 PM My vote is for the high school years. I think Boy Meets World really hit its peak in the 3rd and 4th seasons. I like every season, but during those years, it seemed like every episode was good. I can think of things I don't like about the college years (eric became too goofy, shaun became too serious, etc.), but those high school years were perfect.
RiderStrongLuver123 04-09-2002, 09:37 AM I loved the high school years, but I also liked the middle school years because of all of the funny stuff Shawn and Cory did. But my most favorite thing they did was that dance! I loved that! The college years were alright, but they weren't the best episodes. :happyface
Playswithsquirels 04-24-2002, 08:06 PM I really enjoyed the College ones, personally.
My opinion is that the elementery(sp) school years were light hearted and didnt really stand at the time, but had its share of jokes. The middle school and high school years had much more character development, Cory and Topanga, Shawn being a rebel and Eric having scholastic problems. My favorite were the college years, it was more serious and dramatic which makes sense to me because as the cast so did the storylines. Maybe its because i grew with the show and from my perspective it relates to things that happen around me. Theres just more meaning in the college years but then again those are my opinions~sony
angel w/a babyface 06-18-2002, 06:59 PM I like the highschool years better because in elementery years, the jokes were less funny and the storylines weren't as concerning. In college, the plot became a little boring. Their lives became boring. In highschool, they had problems and they were growing up and the jokes were way funnier than college and elemantery years.
badmonkey3 07-03-2002, 01:27 AM I think that the Middle school eps were kind of stupid and the high school ones were awesome and college is good too but not as good as high school
Swimfan85 07-05-2002, 10:34 PM I personally liked it when they first entered high school, but it was always sad to see cory and topanga apart during the senior year, I also like college episodes
gOoSe 08-12-2002, 04:57 PM i cant vote really because i LOVED all the episode from when Cory and Topanga started ddating to the finale episode.
but i think - IMO- the worst episodes where in begining of season 7 when topanga's parents got a divorce.
but from the marriage on up it was some of the best episode IMO.
i also heard the ratings went up at that time again too but oh well
so i would have to say almost every season had its own treat for me :)
mikimousebmw13 08-22-2002, 04:18 PM I really think all the years had something different to offer everyone. If you wanted laughes, the middle school years were the best. If you wanted to cry, mostly the college years (although, there is some goofy Eric things in the later years!). I like the high school years best because they had a bit of both.
But I like all of the seasons, years, because Rider looks fine in all of them!!! :)

very well said!
Topanga_Fan 09-13-2002, 05:53 PM Well, that was a very hard question, because I grew up with BMW and I liked the middle school years but they weren't as deep as High School. I liked college, but I didn't like what they did to Eric. They made him stupid! This is my favorite show of all time!:)
DainGuy 09-16-2002, 04:51 PM I think the results of this poll reveal the truth about the show. It was at its best during the middle seasons.
Boy Meets World took a season or two to become good, as the writers learned what they wanted out of the characters. For example, Shawn's role grew greatly in season two, and Topanga's character changed dramatically after the first season.
In the third, fourth, and fifth season's, Boy Meets World was a great show. It was funny, they had good storylines, and the cast was very good (Turner was one of my favorites, and Shawn's character was actually funny during these seasons).
The show wasn't as good in the final seasons, as the writers seemed to run out of material. Both Eric and Cory became really silly, which took away from the show.

yeah, i think the marriage really messed things up. i mean, i wanted cory and topanga together. and i know ppl do get married in college. but, i dunno, maybe they would have just kept breaking up if they didn't get married. either way, it made the show boring.
danithang 09-18-2002, 04:00 PM I agree danielle, I wanted Cory and Topanga together as much as the next person, but I also think the marriage kind of ruined the show a little. I think the last episode should have been their wedding, because they didn't really have no where else to go after Cory and Topanga got married.
danielle black 09-20-2002, 10:57 AM amen!
Mag*gy 09-26-2002, 07:14 PM I liked the high school years the best, but the middle school were good too. The college years were very bad. Not Eric's 1st college year when Cory was in high school, that year was a good one. It got bad when Cory & Shawn wen to college. I didn't like the way they had Cory & Topanga still together in college. It got too boring and unrealistic, especially when they got married. I think it was what brought the show down. If anyone should've gotten married, it should've been the Eric character since he was the oldest. Having Cory and Topanga get married was just really dumb. It would've liked it better if they showed them break up and date other people and just be friends.
Classic FOL Fanatic 02-05-2003, 05:28 PM I liked it best when they were in high school. Middle school and college were good, too, but I think the high school years were best.
AnaheimPMWitch 02-06-2003, 12:42 AM I Liked Highschool and College (I like the additions of Rachel... who reminded me of me.. and Jack who is just well lets just face it a cutie)

Yes Jack was a cutie, but I always liked Shawn anyways...and Eric when he was younger.

Mag*gy 02-10-2003, 05:09 PM I definitely have to agree about Eric being the cutest, especially in the 2nd, 3rd ish season, & the season where he was in college for the first year. Shawn didn't look too bad in the last season but before that he was downright ugly. Cory was cute in a homely sort of way. Jack never did anything for me but he wasn't really ugly.

Mag*gy 02-12-2003, 10:57 AM Good question, Annahiem. I hate to admit it because I didn't actually LIKE his character very much, but the one I related to most was Shawn, even though I'm a girl, because of his bad family background & his feelings of inferiority due to that background, which he had to deal with time & again.
AnaheimPMWitch 02-13-2003, 12:48 AM  Well I already Mentioned Why I am like Rachel in another Boy meets World Thread (I dont remember which one) but one of the MAIN things is that we dress alot alike
somethingofafan 02-19-2003, 04:12 PM I personally think the high school years were the best, after the show had outgrown the goofy kid comedy phase and before it entered the phase where it alternated between melodrama and screwball comedy. Those last couple of seasons I needed a scorecard to tell who was living in the apartment in any given episode.
I think one of the worst things they did to the last couple of seasons was keep the writers and cast in suspense about whether the show would go on. They had to give the show closure two or three times before it finally closed.
°Bubbly Blonde° 02-19-2003, 05:52 PM I liked the high school/college years the best cuz i liked angela a lot for some reason, and I liked the angela/sean relationship...I dunno to me they looked so sexy together. Sean's half brother got realllllllly hot too! Sean was hot too....Eric was hot up until he got kind of chubby.
-*Leah*- 03-09-2003, 02:26 PM The college ye*rs were defin*tley my f*vorite!
nana2908brazil 03-09-2003, 09:28 PM Mmmm...For me it's a really hard question!!! But I think it's High School and College 50/50...
I guess that's because they were growing up and facing problems just like I face.
BMW is a show with I identify myself a lot and the character I identify the most is Eric, because of many...many things...(except for the fact that he's a boy and I'm a girl and the dumb things he used to do...altough I'm a little dumb sometimes!!! lol)
Bumblebee 08-10-2003, 01:32 AM I liked middle school the best, but only because of Minkus. I was 13 when this show started and I never missed an episode. When Minkus disappeared, I was outraged, but I kept watching only to find that it bounced back and season 4 is almost my favorite season, even though some little part of me is still upset that Minkus left. However, it can't quite measure up to season 1, when everyone was young and cute-looking, but not in a sexual way. That's probably why I like season 1 the best: everything was innocent still.
Klynn 08-13-2003, 04:13 AM High school years definitely...wonderful episodes during those years:)
Cory Matthews 08-15-2003, 11:12 PM Well... I would have to say Middle School!
MaydayMalonesGirl 08-27-2003, 04:40 PM I like the high school and college years but i went with high school.
auhow 09-20-2003, 01:21 AM my fovorite season is season one
my least favorite season is seasons2-7
VeggieAngel15 11-11-2003, 12:47 PM I liked the high school years best because it got funnier; the boys were dating,Eric got funnier, overall it just got funnier!

Angela was during the high school years.
icecream 02-05-2009, 01:17 PM The middle school years were the best, followed by high school. The college years sucked, and BMW should have ended after the 5th season.
Silly Lily 02-06-2009, 03:02 PM I liked the first season and the high school years best. I really didn't like the middle school years with Frankie, Joey and Harley.
catlover79 02-06-2009, 03:04 PM Early years.
Scoobiedoo30 02-06-2009, 04:00 PM College Year's
DSfan 02-06-2009, 06:25 PM Seasons 3, 4, and 5 were my favorite seasons. 1 and 2 were good when I was younger but now I find them a bit annoying. Season 6 was mediocre and 7 was terrible at times. I still think they should have ended the series with the 2-part "The War" episode. That was such a good episode that would really have finished the show off well. I felt really attached to the show in that episode. The last one lacked the sort of emotional attachment.
p4poetic 03-05-2009, 12:46 PM No, 'Brave New World' is the perfect ending, complete with all the old clips.
MajestikMoose 03-05-2009, 04:30 PM High School.
It was the best part of the show, seeing everyone mature and grow.
And Eric was at his funniest I believe. :)
browneyes106 04-06-2009, 01:04 AM The middle school years were my favorite.
p4poetic 04-11-2009, 04:29 PM I liked the first season and the high school years best. I really didn't like the middle school years with Frankie, Joey and Harley.
Uh, that was high school.
Silly Lily 04-18-2009, 06:35 PM Frankie, Joey, and Hurley were in seasons 2-3, no? They all went to a 7th-12th grade school. Corey/Shawn/Topanga jumped from 5th grade in season 1 to 7th in season 2. I don't know for sure if they were in 8th or 9th grade in season 3, but 7th grade is a middle school year. That is what I meant, and that is what I didn't like.
Schmoopie 05-04-2009, 05:01 AM I liked the high school years. I didn't care for the show much toward the end. Eric was much better in the beginning, but Cory was better in the high school years.
p4poetic 05-09-2009, 01:10 PM Frankie, Joey, and Hurley were in seasons 2-3, no? They all went to a 7th-12th grade school. Corey/Shawn/Topanga jumped from 5th grade in season 1 to 7th in season 2. No, they were in the 6th grade in the 1st season. In the premiere episode of the 2nd season, it was their first day of high school. They were in their senior year of high school in the 5th season. So their junior year was in the 4th season. Mr. Turner mentions that Shawn is 15 yrs old in 'The Double Lie' in the third season, which would make him/them sophomores.
Silly Lily 05-11-2009, 05:13 PM I know it's not worth fighting over, but all the reviews for season 2 on Amazon state that they were in 7th grade. They called it high school because, yeah, they were at the same place as the high school students, but they weren't freshmen in season 2. The timeline gets weird in season 3. Sometimes it sounded like they were 8th graders, sometimes 9th. I know they jumped a grade somewhere. I thought it was from 5th to 7th, but you are right, they did start in 6th. It must have been the season 3 8th/9th combo year to season 4 Jrs.
Classicshowsgurl15 02-15-2011, 04:37 AM I liked the High School Years the best as well. I think 3-5 were the best seasons. :)
brightone 04-11-2011, 10:56 AM I have to say I liked the high school years the best- all of the Cory and Topanga drama- and most of the best episodes were from the time they entered the separate high school (in like 7th or 8th grade) until they graduated!
Family Ties Forever! 05-28-2013, 03:48 AM I think the early seasons were much better.
I have just finished watching the whole series. :)
Spark Of Spirit 05-29-2013, 06:14 PM Seasons 3, 4, and 6 are my favorite parts of the show.
FuriosityShell 01-20-2014, 12:37 AM I like the Season 1 year the most but I love the Season 2-4 years as well.
Blackout 10-10-2014, 03:49 AM My vote is for the high school years. I think Boy Meets World really hit its peak in the 3rd and 4th seasons. I like every season, but during those years, it seemed like every episode was good. I can think of things I don't like about the college years (eric became too goofy, shaun became too serious, etc.), but those high school years were perfect.
i agree
college years sucked mostly too dramatic and shaun went soft i think
Blackout 10-11-2014, 01:05 AM I think the early seasons were much better.
I have just finished watching the whole series. :)
on DVD??
i've been watching them daily on ABC Family
FuriosityShell 10-12-2014, 06:24 PM There are no middle school years. There's only elementary school (season 1), high school (seasons 2-5) and college (seasons 6-7). There was no middle school. Only elementary school (grades k-6) and high school (grades 7-12). I like the high school years the best.
Blackout 10-13-2014, 02:38 PM elementary school? that's not 6th grade
FuriosityShell 10-13-2014, 03:27 PM elementary school? that's not 6th grade
In BMW it is. In the season one episode "Santa's Little Helper" when Shawn doesn't have the money to pay Minkus, Minkus says "if you don't pay me, the entire sixth grade of Jefferson Elementary is going to know you're a deadbeat." Through the whole season two, it is constantly mentioned that Cory and Shawn are seventh graders attending John Adams High. So there's no middle school in BMW.
In real life sixth grade can be elementary school too. A lot of districts have elementary (grades k-6), junior high (grades 7-8) and high school (grades 9-12). But in my city's district, it's elementary (grades k-4), middle (grades 5-8) and high school (grades 9-12).
Blackout 10-13-2014, 08:54 PM that's crazy
i guess you are correct here
