View Full Version : Jin and newbies...
Anyone notice Jinny's, eh sketchiness, towards newbies? Last season she had that little altercation with Angela at the bar in an episode towards the one...I'm thinking it's the one where Jin and Mag went undercover...? And this year she's like doubting Raina's theories. When Raina came in and told her theory to Cap, Mag, and Jin, Jinny did nothing but doubt it. Magda was more supportive of it. Seems to me as if Jinny has issues with newbies and she needs for them to earn her trust and respect cause she's not going to take the extra step in order to make their job easier for them...?
Anyone else noticed this (or am I reaching here)?

consentida 01-21-2002, 11:16 PM nah ur not reaching lol. i've noticed it too. :)
gothic of darkness 01-21-2002, 11:23 PM yeah, I noticed it too. She also gave Raina this
look like..."ok, you don't know what the hell
you're talking about so shut up". hehe.
#1_Nancy_McKeon 01-22-2002, 12:02 AM She probably basically thinks that Raina along with all the newer people to the force should earn their acceptance and not have it automatically given to them. I'm sure that wasn't the case when she first began to force. She probably aswell as the rest of them had to earn what they now have today. When things are not handed to people they work harder...... That's my basic outlook so I understand where she's coming from if that's the case.

I agree with this...even the Captain said something to Raina about her being nothing to the inspectors and having to earn their acceptance when she was getting involved in last nite's murder case.
Jeanie 01-22-2002, 12:41 AM As on any job you have to basically prove yourself. I think that is what you are seeing cause in no way have we seen Raina prove herself. Sorry that is JMO. I am sure everyone there has had to prove themselves on the job. I know I have.
the_biggest_nancy_fanatic 01-22-2002, 01:25 AM you are right..but there is nuttin wrong wit it..in order to gain respect you have to work for it..thats the way it is in my book
KerriBerri687 01-22-2002, 01:15 PM like a lotta u said...mag's seems much more accepting to raina than jin...but w/e
raina did help figure out the case so..she kinda did sorta start to proove herself i think...

Yea. IMO she started to prove herself...
the_biggest_nancy_fanatic 01-22-2002, 07:52 PM o yeah she did..ya know i mean she is starting to prove herself..lol is it jus me or does she TOTALLY remind u of tootie?omg there was dis one part in da 3rd eppy dat totally reminded me of her..oh the the part where the cap told her not to get in n e ones way lol!! omg she is such a tootie lol cap:raina were you evesdropping? raina:no...more then usual hehehehe i love it
InspectorExstead 01-22-2002, 09:25 PM i do and i don't. lol. i mean if you compare it to the way she treated angela then no. am i making sense ? she treated angela much worse. and doubting her theory..well in my opinion i think she was just stating HER opinion. and she did get mad that raina didn't tell either her magda or the cap that she was going to the dorm and jinny didn't like that. she also didn't have the patience for it. she wanted to finish the case before i dunno the murderer took off. that's what i think. but other than that..she's been nice to rania. not sleazy comments, dissing no nothing. well for now anyway ! :D
InspectorExstead 01-22-2002, 09:27 PM i also think she did that because if one little thing goes wrong then the guy could walk. (remember what the cap told her in the pilot ?) she can't run the risk of having a murderer out on the loose just cuz raina didn't ask the cap or whatver. and i know raina got the consent of the roomate and all. but....:D
Jinny Girl 01-22-2002, 10:35 PM I think she was just pissed that some rookie got to the crucial evidence before she did. I mean she just got back and shes trying to prove she can do it and there goes some rookie solving her case... Mag doesnt care because nobodys doubting her abilities as a cop.
Adele 01-22-2002, 10:46 PM Ya, I agree.
AllIWantIsYourClutch 01-23-2002, 12:09 AM -ahem- Did anyone happen to realize that Angela and Raina are both African-American and Jinny doesn't get along well with either of them......

i dont think that has n e thing to do with it i mean...i dunno...
dovesong 01-23-2002, 06:46 PM Jinny was almost nice to Raina in the first episode, when she asked Raina about how things were going, with the Precious Doe case.
Perhaps Jinny just found out then that Raina wasn't allowed on the streets and lost that respect she almost had for her.
I also think that with each new person that comes, Jinny feels threatened. Jinny wasn't the perfect cop, and she know's she's dispensable.
Many different theories are on the table.

I don't think that has anything to do with it. I mean, Jinny also has major beef with Cap...?

PEZWCW 01-24-2002, 01:54 AM I doubt that it has to do with discrimanation. First of all she has a Puetro Rican as a partner, and her brother is gay. I just think Jinny has a major trust issue.

 She TOTALLY Reminds me of Tootie! hahaha. THat ep where she said that, Right after. Just ask jin! I was like "Doesn't she just totally remind you of Tootie???" :D hahha. Cool other people agree! *high fives to them*

Michele35 01-27-2002, 11:22 PM I noticed again there was some more friction between Raina and Jin in 1/27 eppie.
I think if Jin stays off the bottle,,she will eventually become a good mentor for Raina.

Yeah, there was friction, but hopefully it will get better.
I think Jinny would make a good mentor for Raina too. She took a step in the right direction tonight when she had that little chat with Raina. I think that showed guts on Raina's part and maturity on Jinny's. Hopefully something positive will develop between the two of them eventually...

Michele35 01-27-2002, 11:42 PM I agree,ks,,Jin seems much more mature this season!! Must be that rehab thing that we never get to see on-screen.
I think Jin will eventually come around....remember it has taken a while for the Cap to show the same confidence in Jinny.

Yes, she does seem more mature. I think she always had it in her, the booze was just making her sight fuzzy. Hopefully she will remain on the right track...there might be a few stumbles along the way, but I hope her friends at the Division will be there to help her along.
The Cap does trust Jinny, and I hope that trust remains when Jinny kills the cop. I hope Cap is the one Jinny turns to. I really want that to happen! The Cap trusts Jinny, not Jinny must learn to trust the Cap!

NMK_GG_FAN 01-27-2002, 11:58 PM I think Jinny is just being helpful and realizing tht raina is not at her stage (inspector) quite yet...Now that she notices that raina can make mistakes....its better....the fact that jinny was cool with raina after she approched her...thats all that mattas!!!...and i think that jinny and raina got the chance to build a better thing than anglea and her!!!. soo its all coo
Swimfan85 01-30-2002, 09:49 PM OMG I NOTICED THE SAME THING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WEIRD!!!!!!!!!!!! lol not really....but uhmm ya i think i agree with the earning trust and acceptence...yep
