referred to the trio as "THE KIDS"??? They were all in their mid's 20's living on their own and the Ropers or Furley always said "HI KIDS". So before anyone says it, why did the writers put this in the script???
BTW: On a episode of the Ropers Helen says...:Our new place is still close enough for us to see the kids"
Mr. Brooks response was..."You have children?"
LOL

Well, mid 20s isn't exactly old. It's actually pretty young lol. And the Ropers were I would guess in their 50s and Furley was aeound the same age, so they were all about thriy years younger. To the landlords, they would be considered kids to them.

I know they were old enough to be their parents but they were still adults so it sounded crazy saying KIDS.

Maybe it was a term of endearment. After all, the Ropers had no kids, or did they I forget. *shrug*
I referred to an 18 year old as a kid today. I must be getting old, lol.

I always saw it as a term of endearment, too. It's what older people refer to younger people as. My aunts/uncles/parents...they still refer to my cousins and sister and me as the kids and we're all in our early 20's. I'm surprised you're so fascinated by it because I hear it a lot lol.

My sister and I are in our 30s and my sister's boyfriend is 40. Our 92 year old grandma refers to us as "the children."

Well maybe it was because she watched yall grown up and remember when yall were kids. On the otherhand, the Ropers met the trio when they were already grown so I guess that's why it sounded odd
