It has been over a week since anyone other than me has posted on this page. In that time period, I have made ten attempts to stimulate some conversation about this fine series! Well, here comes attempt number eleven! Four attempts before this one, I raised to the top of the page a thread that I had started myself and titled "Sylvia's Butt". The Sylvia that I was writing about was Paul's mother from "Mad About You" played by Cynthia Harris. Incidentially, "Mad About You" was one of the very few shows that I enjoyed even more than "Gimme a Break!"! In any event, two attempts before this one was the bringing up of the thread that I also started myself and titled "The First Episode I Saw". That episode was the "Emergency" and I was hooked on the series ever since. It was the pay phone scene that I truely fell in love with! The line "your purse, your purse" has stuck with me ever since I was twelve years old! Well, prior to the time that Nell placed the busy body's purse on the gurny pole, the lady did a lot of hand motions in an attempt to look hotsy totsy. During several times with her interactions with Nell, she put her hand on her hip. Well, last night, I watched a video on You Tube that featured another lady who was the other Sylvia that I am using in my title of this thread. This Sylvia is the country music star from the eighties that was famous only by her first name. Someone had uploaded the 1982 video called "Nobody". By the way, 1982 was also the year that the "Emergency" episode made its debut. In any event, during her song, she did a lot of fancy body movements putting her hand on her hip several times. In was very reminicent of the pay phone interactions between Nell and the character credited as Mrs. Larry Rhine!
