Certain TV shows that have been turned into movies don’t exactly live up to expectations (Land of the Lost, Bewitched, SWAT). 21 Jump Street won’t meet a similar fate, as word of mouth is the comedy (opening March 16th) lives up to expectations. Even the media is bullish on the film, as the 21 Jump Street press conference opened up with a “will there be a sequel” question.
“We would all love to make a sequel,” said Hill. “It’s dependent on if a big audience shows up to see the film. And if they do, we would all love to make a sequel. So it’s really not up to us, I don’t think.”
“I’d love to do a sequel,” added Tatum. “Please go see the movie!”
Hill, who received a story credit and is an executive producer of the film (along with Tatum), has spent most of his twenties developing the project.
