View Full Version : "All in the Family"
Chocoholic 01-21-2002, 09:38 PM I watched the episode "All in the Family" for, like, the 5th time on my local ABC station last night. It's one of those episodes that always keeps my heart pounding, no matter how often I see it. I was never a fan of Lucy (in fact, she's my least favorite of all the main characters ever on the show) but I always cry when she dies. They worked so hard to save her, but couldn't. I think this is one of the best episodes of the series ever.
ISmellFine 01-21-2002, 10:16 PM That ep was on here on Saturday night on a local station. Gawd that was sad...and Kerry found her...ew. Poor thing.
Kay Scarpetta 01-21-2002, 10:19 PM OMG I cried so hard when that ep was on. I didn't care if Carter died. But Lucy. WHY Lucy. ugh I can't get that picture out of my head... *cries*
Divisionbabe05 01-22-2002, 12:37 AM I saw it for the 1st time last nite and omg it was soooooooo sad! I cried :(
JDS84 01-22-2002, 11:36 AM I love that epsiode I remember when I watched it for the first time. I set and cried when Lucy died. I miss her.:(
disturbed child 01-28-2002, 07:06 AM ooo jesus... i bawled my eyes out when lucy died! i've seen "all in the family" atleast 10 times and each time, it has me crying hysterically. i lerbed lucy... she was my fave on the show! i didn't want her to die. when lizzie plucks the trach and lucy whispers "thank you", it's just so... heartwretching. i mean, those were her last words... u know? it's just so sad. and the thing that really irks my tator is that they never mention lucy nowadays! it's like carter is the only one who got stabbed. i think they totally forgot about her! carter cried at the end of "all in the family" when peter told him lucy died, but that was it. carter hasn't shown any remorse. he friggin ignored lucy when she kept going to him for assistance in the treatment of paul sobriki but carter kept brushing her off. that angers me! argh. i even cry now when i think about lucy. i wrote about her in english and i started crying and everyone was looking at me weird.
oh yeah, and when kerry finds carter and lucy stabbed in the exam room, it's just... powerful, i guess u could say.
Chocoholic 01-28-2002, 12:03 PM Carter DID show some remorse though. That's one of the reasons he he got really depressed and turned to drugs. She was mentioned a couple of times, maybe not by name, but she was alluded to.

i wouldn't necessarily say that her death is one of the reasons why he turned to drugs. u see, using narcotics was a coping mechanism; it was a way for him to deal w/his own stabbing, as well as all of the other problems in his past... mainly his cousin chase's overdose, his brother bobby's death from leukemia and his parents neglecting him. he suffered from post tramautic stress syndrome and there was even a time when he was having flashbacks of his stabbing and that got him depressed. also, he was having those back problems from the stabwounds and that interfered w/his ability to work and do ordinary things. that just really got him in a melancholic mood for what seemed like an eternity...
but i'm glad my babie boy is finally happy now. all he needs is his abby and then everything will be peachy keen! :)
The chilling, horrific death of ER’s Lucy, remembered by Kellie Martin, the actress who played her (https://www.vox.com/2017/9/6/16257986/er-lucy-death-kellie-martin)
I wonder now if Kellie Martin ran a foul on the producers (hence, they decided to get rid of her character in the most gruesome, traumatic way imaginable within the confines of late '90s-early 2000s network television) by deciding that about a year and a half in, she wanted to leave? I've heard that she wanted to leave ER because her sister had just passed away, and she was no longer comfortable with always having to be on a hospital set all day given what happened to her in real life.
