Who would you say is TV's most unlikable in-law?
For me, the honor goes to Esmeralda, on Bewitched!

Marie Barone, Everybody Loves Raymond. The woman never had a nice thing to say about Debra and was always bossing around Raymond and Robert.

Aunt Esther from Sanford and Son. Fred couldn't stand her!

Definitely Marie Barone. Always dropping over at any time. Remember when she hopped in bed with Ray and Debra?

Endora. Always messing up Darrin's name and putting spells on him. Poor guy!

Mother Jefferson was always putting down Louise.

Lucy's mother always called Ricky Micky.

They're not in-laws, but the mothers of the guys from Big Bang Theory! Especially Howard's mother always yelling at him and Leonard's mother always putting him down.

The nicest in-laws had to be from the Cosby Show. They were all wonderful!

Sylvia Buchman from Mad About You. She was always so mean to Jamie, nothing Jamie did was good enough.

Sylvia and Morty Fine on "The Nanny" were very nice in-laws, even if they were a bit much to handle.

I agree Endora was mean. Also Wilma Flintstones mother did not like Fred either.

How about Mrs. Moon from "Frasier"? Always putting her daughter Daphne down, and freeloading on Niles.

BTW, I'm watching the very first shows , and it's a shame how much they changed Daphne. In the beginning, she was a kooky free spirit. After they married her off to Niles, they made her a shrewish harpy.

i don't think that Mr. Green was ever fond of Ross on Friends, and Mike's parents hated Phoebe on "Friends".

Without a doubt:

- Endora and Darrin - Bewitched

- Fred and Esther - Sanford and Son

- Mother Jefferson and Louise - The Jeffersons

- Wilma Flintstone's mom and Fred - The Flintstones

Others:

King of the Hill: Cotton Hill and Peggy - Not only does Cotton dog his own son and even treats G.H. (Good Hank) way better than Hank, but he also dogs Peggy nonstop, berates her, uses sexist tones around her and sometimes Bobby and LuAnn and thinks Peggy is bnever good enough to be with Hank and Peggy never once had anything nice to say back to Cotton. Heck, even in the final season she wished death on him in his hospital bed and lol and behold...he died literally in his hospital bed!

Also, Min's father despises everything and anything about Kahn, which is probably the whole reason why he acts uppity at times the ways he does at times. Heck, Min's father even tried to sabotage and upstage Kahn's success at a local Karaoke bar.

Thats what makes me not like her.it would have been different if ted knight had been playing another halfwit like ted baxter but henry rush was a great guy, sure he was a little uptight but overall he was a loving husband and father

My vote has to go to Marie Barone. That's who I thought of when I saw this thread! She was always trying to put Debra down, even if she did it in a backhanded way. I do think she meant well, though. But you couldn't really blame Debra for getting annoyed most of the time!

I would also have to mention Endora on Bewitched just for all the spells she put on Darrin practically every time he turned around.

And there's also Rhoda's mother, Ida. She was quite a lot to handle, although I don't think she was as critical of her son-in-law as Marie was of her daughters-in-law.

I know someone mentioned Daphne's mom on Frasier, and while I agree she wasn't the most pleasant person, at least she wasn't around as much as some of the others who've been mentioned! LOL
