Chrissy...."teaching Mr. Roper how to dance"

And Jack wasn't his usual yellow-bellied, jelly-fish self when dealing with a nasty Jeffrey who wanted to beat him up when he thought Jack was having an affair with his wife.

Never! I remember in one episode, some bully from the Regal Begal challenged Jack to a fight, but Jack was afraid. So Janet told him that Jack had a steel plate in his head!

I just remembered he did stand up to that guy in the beagle in season 7 and challenged him to a boxing match. But at the time of the Ropers episode in 79, Jack had never stood up to a guy on Three's company the 1st 3 seasons. lol

I don't know. It wasn't far fetched to me. Those hairstyles worn on "The Ropers" were the new dos for season four of Three's Company. That was one of the things that I took note of.

Nope, you tell me the episode in season 4 that Janet and Chrissy had those hairstyles and i will put out my DVD right now.

I'm confident Chrissy never had that hairstyle on Three's Company that she had on the ropers

It seemed like it to me. It certainly wasn't season three. The cinetography and lighting also resembles the type used for season four as well.

Tom it wasn't her season 3 or season 4 hairstyle, I guess it was just a hairstyle for a GUEST appearance LOL Same thing with Janet

In Cyrano De Tripper he nearly gets into a fight with Chrissy's, date it got pretty heated.

Joyce DeWitt had just cut her godawful Season 3 perm--if you look closely you can still see the edges of the curls still remaining. She had this look for the first two or so Season 4 episodes before it was trimmed further.

Now that you mention it yeah it does feel out of character and funny because I always assumed this episode was part of Three's Company since it was always aired in syndication as part of TC.

As someone pointed out to me, characters on television shows grow, change and develop over time and do NOT stay the same person season after season after season.

Making Jack a wimp seemed to be a big change from the character when we first met him as a Navy veteran.

I guess people thought it was funny, but I think it got overplayed over time.

But it was a response not a challenge remember? Brooks told Jack he used to be a fighter or something & then Jack said he was a boxer in the navy or whatever.

In one of the regular episodes Jack warned that goon Max that he knew Karate remember?

I think Jack PICKED his fights, like everyone else. I wouldn't ever consider Jack a coward in 3's Company, he was always ready to defend himself, BUT when he saw a guy was really BIG and an experienced fighter, he often backed down....that's not being a coward, that's being smart to not want to fight someone who could seriously hurt you.

Janet didn't have an immediate change of clothes, so that explains the towel. (She wasn't going to pit her sweaty outfit back on). Chrissy's dancing was in line with her character. Plus, Mr. Roper was no longer their landlord, so maybe they felt freer around him.

As for Jack- Jeffrey P. Brookes III didn't exactly come off as someone to be scared of, so Jack not backing down made sense (also, someone mentioned that he did come on strong against a man in a prior episode of TC).

Maybe I didn't look closely enough, but Janet's hairdo on that Ropers episode looked similar to what it was on the episode in which Jack's an escort for Lana? How different could it have been, as that's when she got the new cut for the season. It was probably filmed around the time TC shot the first of its season 4 episodes.

Was Chrissy's crazy-ponytail hairstyles ever the same from episode to episode? They seemed to be facing one way one episode, facing another, another episode, adding another here or there. hehe I don't know. And then toss in those bangs, it was too much. :)

NOPE lol I wish I could so a screen shot but Janet never had that hairstyle on TC and neither did Chrissy. I think it was because this was a ROPERS episode so they were not there normal TC characters;

Also as a note- Janet and Chrissy were dancing close with Mr. Furley on his first TC appearance (even hoisting him into the air)- so their closeness to Roper was not so unusual after all. :)

Janet's hair was in the transition phase in this episode, transitioning from the big curly hair she had in the early seasons to the pixie she has in the later seasons.

Also I don't think Jack was always yellow in 3's Company.... He often would fight back, it's just when he saw someone was WAY tougher then him, he'd back down as many would

He did stand up for Furley in season 7 at the beagle.
