Fran Drescher Tells "Live! with Kelly" Every Girl Needs A Gay Ex-Husband (VIDEO)

Fran Drescher, star of TV Land's "Happily Divorced", stopped by "Live! with Kelly" to promote the second season of her sitcom and opened up about the events that inspired the show.
Drescher was married to Peter Marc Jacobson from 1978–1999, but the two divorced after Jacobson came out of the closet. Her sitcom is based on that experience.
"The show's inspired by my real life. I do have a gay ex-husband... every girl should."
When asked if she knew anything was going on:
"Around two-thirds through the marriage he started going to therapy saying that he's bisexual because he has attractions towards men. He said he had never acted on it and he wanted to remain married to me because he loved me and our life together.
I was at the place in my life where I wasn't totally connected to my own feelings, but what was best for everyone else. I thought 'Well, he must really love me, he's being so honest with me, so we have to make this work and continue moving forward with it.'
One time we went to a restaurant and he asked our waiter 'Didn't you used to work at Hugo's?' I didn't know this guy from a hole in the wall. I thought he must have been checking him out... so once that seed was planted it must have been the beginning of the end."
