View Full Version : Beaver And Violet
Torgo 03-05-2012, 11:38 AM In this episode The Rutherfords plan a picnic, and make a point of having Wally and Beaver invited along. I thought it was kind of strange they didn't bring Lumpy. Weren't he and Wally friends at this point? Of course Captain Kangaroo might have been on and Lumpy couldn't be dragged away from the TV.
Now I'm only talking within the context of the Leave It To Beaver universe, in real life he wasn't needed for the story so wasn't written in.
MickeyMac 03-05-2012, 03:07 PM Lumpy and Violet were never seen together, and in fact they never even mentioned each other. Strange.
Torgo 03-05-2012, 03:22 PM That's good point, it's like neither are aware of each others existence.
Jack1000 03-05-2012, 09:24 PM Lumpy and Violet were never seen together, and in fact they never even mentioned each other. Strange.
I recall one episode where they are together, "Beaver's Rat". Beaver sells Violet his rat, "Peter Gunn" for $3.00 in an episode that talks about how children often don't understand the value of money, and Beaver keeps trading away nice things for novelty items. This time though he gets the best of the deal, Beaver says something like, "I never knew a girl that paid three whole dollars for a rat." Fred gets mad that Beaver took advantage of Violet and insists that she can't keep the rat. Just as June originally told Beaver. Lumpy is in the room when Fred is talking to her I think eating a candy bar, and Violet starts crying about taking the rat back, "But Daddy, he's the sweetest rat I ever knew!"
Fred says, "Now, it's not gonna do any good to start crying."
Lumpy says, "It always has before Daddy."
Fred says something like, "Go do your homework, Clarence!"
Lumpy: "I already did, Daddy!"
Fred: "Well than....go read your comic books or something!" LOL!
Lumpy "OK Daddy."
Violet tells her father she got the rat from Beaver, Fred says he'll take care of it and give Violet her money back. However, in the end, Fred's wife misses Peter Gun, so Fred goes back to the Cleaver's offering Beaver $5.00 for the rat! Beaver leans his lesson about fair deals, and sells the rat back to Fred for 50 cents.

I'll have to go back and watch this.
Hughsgirl 03-12-2012, 03:40 PM I don't know about anyone else but I thought Fred cted like a complete pervert throughout the episode. It started when he made sure his daughter sat on Beaver's lap and telling Wally, "too bad we don't have another little for you to have sit on your lap." Then there was the infamous picture of Beaver and Violet. He had to make sure she kissed him. What got me wa that everyone else allowed him to humilate these kids. I know it's just a show, but Fred really gave me the creeps in this episode.
