Younger Hazel fans will not recall this, but the April 1964 issue of Mad Magazine ran a parody of Hazel called "A Strange Interlude With Hazey". The cartoon sketches of the cast held smiling masks to their faces while beneath the masks, the smirking faces spouted off what they were supposedly really feeling. These are not accurate quotes, just from my memory and remember, I Love Hazel. Harold: "Hazey, will you play baseball with me?" Hazey: "Why sure Sport!" (Beneath Hazey's mask) "That miserable kid! Football! Baseball! If he dosen't let up I'll wind up with a coronary!" In a bedroom where Hazey is seperated from the Baxters by only a divider: Messy(Missy) "Goodnight Hazey!" Mr. G (Mr. B.) "Goodnight Hazey, don't forget to wake up and do that classy Ford commercial! I'll bet you sell a lot of Thunderbirds to maids!" Hazey:"For Pete's sake Messy and Mr. G. Goodnight!" Beneath her mask: "I wish they'd get their own room!"

Wow, what a great memory. I used to get Mad magazine, but I was too young for it in '64. Wouldn't it be great to see that Hazey issue again?

Yes, the first page of this was reprinted in a MAD Magazine book of mine called "Completely MAD". It looks really funny.

Don't forget Hazey commenting: "Messy works hard all day to make sure I don't steal!"

Or "Messy" commenting on Hazey upstaging her in yet another scene:

"She blocks me out like a Green Bay Packer tackle!" Wonder if that's how Whitney Blake really felt!
