"Brady Bunch" star Maureen McCormick -- who famously shared an on-screen kiss with Davy Jones on the 70s sitcom -- is finally breaking her silence on the singer's death ... telling TMZ, "Davy was a beautiful soul."

Maureen -- aka "Marcia, Marcia, Marcia" -- tells us, Davy "spread love and goodness around the world. He filled our lives with happiness, music, and joy."

She adds, "He will live on in our hearts forever. May he rest in peace."

Davy guest-starred on 'The Bunch' back in '71 -- playing himself in an episode where Marcia tries to convince him to sing at her prom.

Meanwhile, Cindy Brady herself, Susan Olsen, has also paid tribute to the music icon.

"RIP Davy Jones," she said. "He was geniunely a nice guy to me always. My love goes to his family and sooo many who will be saddened by his loss."

Finally breaking her silence? The man just died yesterday, how long were they willing to holdout for an interview?

Maureen -- aka "Marcia, Marcia, Marcia"

Was this really necessary? Anyone reading this knows by now who Maureen McCormick is. If they acknowledge her as Marcia that's fine but Marcia Marcia Marcia is ridiculous.

^ Because it's TMZ, that's why. Anyway, wonderful tributes from Maureen and Susan. Geri Reischl, Robbie Rist and Tina Andrews (who played one of Marcia's friends in this episode) have also paid tribute to Davy on FB.

I agree with you on both points, Zoneboy. They are making it seem like Maureen and Davy had a falling out and that she was refusing to make a statement about him. So I suppose if the surviving members of the Monkees hadn't said anything right away, there would have been a big story in the tabloids about how they were at each other's throats and so forth. Just pathetic, IMO.

And as for the "Marcia Marcia Marcia" thing... that was a bit uncalled for on TMZ's part. But then again, I have to remember what media we're dealing with.

TMZ is kind of crass, IMO but so far I haven't found much more information on other media about Davy's death. I did read on TMZ that he was near his home in Florida and was in his car when he complained of chest pains and died either at the hospital or before they got him there. Makes me want to cry just thinking about it. And the fact that I honestly hadn't thought about him in years makes me feel terrible.

But what Maureen said about him was just beautiful and I'm sure Davy made an impact on the entire cast. He's certainly made an impact on me and he's only been gone six days.

Sadly, Maureen has lost a lot of her co-stars in recent years from her age group: Patrick Swayzee (Skatetown USA), Michael Jackson (she "dated" him), Robert Hegyes (he played her love interest on the Love Boat, and guest-starred on the Brady Bunch Variety Hour), and now Davy Jones! My thoughts and prayers go out to her.
