I ask this for just overall things. Was the music the best in the 80s? Was tv shows the best in the 50s? Overall, what decade did you like the best and why?

View Full Version : Which Decade was the best? mets82 02-24-2012, 10:40 PM I ask this for just overall things. Was the music the best in the 80s? Was tv shows the best in the 50s? Overall, what decade did you like the best and why? tiredmike59 02-25-2012, 02:19 AM 1960s,hands down on everything. No decade has come close. mystery_daisy 02-25-2012, 03:41 AM 65-75 This era was the best! janet42 02-25-2012, 09:41 AM 1970-1995 Regulus 02-25-2012, 10:40 AM 1955 to 1975 Hands Down. IMO From 2000 to Presant puke:. *Pleasant Tomorrow* 02-27-2012, 08:45 PM The 70's, as far as sitcoms. 90's, too. It's almost like an every other decade thing for me. The early 00's sucked as far as TV. Good Lord. I think it's getting better. Music was great in the 60's, but its television is kind of meh. Same for the 80's. EmoJoe 02-27-2012, 08:48 PM For TV, the '70s. Pretty easily. But I'd rank the current era right below it honestly. Mr. Television 02-27-2012, 10:11 PM The 70's were the best time for tv. You could watch syndicated reruns from the 60's in syndication during the daytime and the current hits at night. So many choices and yet fewer channels. lol As far as music is concerned though, I always prefered the 50's. Schmoopie 02-28-2012, 05:19 AM That's a hard question for me because my favorite shows are from different decades, but I guess I'd say either the 70's or 80's. 80's would be my favorite decade for movies, music, etc so I'd probably lean more toward them. MickeyMac 02-28-2012, 07:20 PM 1960s,hands down on everything. No decade has come close. RIGHT ON :clap :clap :clap :clap :clap :clap :clap         Retro4Life 02-28-2012, 07:38 PM The 60's are, for me the top decade for music. Honestly, when I think of all the incredible creativity that came out of that period, nothing else even comes close. I'll give the 70's to TV. I love many 60's shows, but in the 70's TV matured and proved that you can be funny and serious at the same time. The quality of the scripts and acting was phenomenal. Movies? Gotta go with the 70's again. Serious dramas about what it meant to be alive at that time were everywhere; I only wish SOMEONE would make films about living in the modern world, films that really keyed into those hopes and fears and struggles. Instead, we get sequels, prequels, reboot, reimaginings (!), and adaptations. MacLeaper 02-28-2012, 07:56 PM This is a kind of difficult question to answer as I have not had the privilege of living through many decades at this point. It seems one would have to had actually lived through the various decades in order to comment on how they were in general. In my opinion, regardless of the quality of entertainment available at the time, all the decades are good. No matter what time it is, God is always good and He continues to make every moment of my life worthwhile.:) duckie 02-28-2012, 10:40 PM In my opinion I pick the 70s for music, even though my favorite band, the Beatles, were from the 60s. TV wise, its pretty close between the 60s and 70s, both decades had some great shows. waichingliu81 03-17-2012, 07:25 AM i only lived through 3 decades- 80s, 90s, 00s. but i loved what's happening?, the jeffersons and good times from the 70s, shows which i've watched through youtube. if you asked me what was my favourite decade it would be: for music: 80s, then early to mid 90s for sitcoms: the 90s definitely for movies: the 80s and the 90s Silly Lily 03-17-2012, 06:47 PM i only lived through 3 decades- 80s, 90s, 00s. Me too. I think my ratings would be: Music: the entire 90s decade TV: late 80s to late 90s Movies: mid 80s to mid 90s Not to say I haven't liked anything that's come out in the last 12 years (quite the opposite), but they haven't all added up to be a *favorite* era of anything. bliss 03-17-2012, 08:52 PM TV - 1960's (it was the golden era of sitcoms) such as Bewitched, Jeannie, Gilligan, Dick Van Dyke, etc. Music - 1980's such as Madonna, Michael Jackson, Prince, Whitney, etc. |
