How much involvement did Lucille Ball have with I Love Lucy? Was she allowed to proofread the scripts and make changes? Did she have plot ideas of her own, and were they filmed?

From everything I'e read, Lucy mostly put herself in the hands of her writers and Desi. In any interview that I've read, Lucille Ball would always credit her writers.

When asked about the success of the show she'd say, 'I had good writers."

I also read that she had complete faith in Desi's judgement . She had total faith in what he wanted her to do. The book said that Lucy's comedy blossomed under Desi's handling of the show because she trusted his instincts.

One Lucy input I did read about though was that she disliked seeing the covers of the scripts with ILL printed on them. She didn't like the word even though it just stood for the show's title. From then on Desi mandated that the scripts just have Lucy printed on the cover.
