by Todd Gilchrist
Just when it seemed like Adele couldn’t get any bigger, she boosted sales of her latest album '21' by more than 200 percent after winning six awards at the Grammys.
After taking home Album of the Year honors at last Sunday’s ceremony, the singer-songwriter continued her dominance of the pop charts with a 21st week at Number One on the Billboard 200 chart.

Maybe it's just me, but I just don't get the appeal of Adele's music. A boring, repetitive, plodding drum beat set to cliched "blue eyed soul" music. It's like Amy Winehouse (who was extremely overrated) light. I get the fact that Adele has a good voice but I do not see how that song "Rolling in the Deep" is so popular. The chorus is annoying, and the song is not catchy and you can't dance to it. I think hype helps her sales.
I'm not normally a fan of current pop music, but Adele really got me hooked when I first saw her perform "Rolling in the Deep" on Conan. I think it's a wonderful song, and she's an immensely talented singer and songwriter. I now own both of her albums.
JamesG 02-29-2012, 09:24 PM Adele's '21' Becomes Longest-Running No. 1 Album Since 'Purple Rain'
2/29/2012
by Keith Caulfield, Billboard
Not unexpectedly, Adele's '21' album spends a 22nd week atop the Billboard 200, selling 297,000 (down 59%), according to Nielsen SoundScan. It's now the longest-running No. 1 since Prince & the Revolution's 'Purple Rain' soundtrack scored 24 weeks at No. 1 in 1984 and 1985.
This is also the ninth consecutive week for '21' at No. 1 -- the most in-a-row frames at No. 1 since the 'Titanic' soundtrack racked 14 straight in 1998.
'21' -- released slightly more than a year ago in the United States -- has now sold 7.7 million in the States. Of that figure, 1.8 million were sold in 2012.
Adele has a second album in the top 10 this week, as her first set, '19', descends 4-7 with 39,000 (down 56%).

Good Heavens. You mention Lady Gaga in nearly every thread about music. Are you one of her ex-boyfriends or something? Move past it.

Let's you and I get one thing straight right now, you have no say in what I post in this forum. If you have an issue with it then take it to an administrator. My comments regarding Lady Gaga are only opinions and I really don't care whether or not anyone agrees with them. For the record, I don't mention Lady Gaga in nearly every thread about music. In fact, I have only mentioned her in 4 threads aside from this one.

Sophia's Wrinkles 03-02-2012, 05:41 AM Dear friend, I am not the least bit intimidated or convinced by your attempt to patronize me despite your status. If you think your age, post count, or moderator status somehow weighs more heavily against mine, I believe you'd better dig a little bit deeper. If you think my response to you is somehow reflective of an effort to silence your posts, you're sadly mistaken. I have no desire to contact the administrators of this board. You seem to think that I wish some action be taken to quiet your opinions. I simply meant to point out how foolish you look to bring up a performer in threads that are not related to your object of scorn. I'd suggest you take the same course of action as you suggested towards me if you have a problem with my response to your replies. If you think for a second that I'm concerned with your power-hungry moderator status, you've got another thing coming. In the same way you exercise your right to demonstrate your preoccupation, I'll exercise my right to point out how silly you look to mention Lady Gaga in threads that bear no mention of her name.

Take it easy. You're way out of line. There was no need for this. Zoneboy did none of what you're accusing him here. He didn't try to intimidate or patronize you. He also never mentioned his moderator status, age or post count. He's not a power hungry moderator either. Stop it with the personal attacks. He has a right to mention Lady Gaga as much as he wants, without being taken to task by you or anyone.
mystery_daisy 03-02-2012, 07:28 PM Good for Adele, I am happy for her and her success as I think she's worthy of it.
Since I don't listen to top 40 radio, i didn't even realize she was popular at first. Also I don't get a chance to tire of her music. A friend popped some music of hers in one day and I thought it was a wonderful sound. So I personally don't think her popularity is hype. I think a lot of people just dig her music.

JamesG 06-13-2012, 07:09 PM Adele's '21' Hits 24th Week at No. 1

by Keith Caulfield, Billboard
Adele's '21' returns to No. 1 for a 24th week, selling 75,000 (up 30%).
The set is basking in the glow of the singer's NBC TV special, Adele Live in London, which aired June 3.
'21' holds the most frames at No. 1 since Prince & the Revolution's 'Purple Rain' soundtrack also spent 24 weeks atop the list in 1984 and 1985. Only eight albums -- including '21' -- have ruled for at least 24 weeks.
'21' has never left the top 10 in its entire 68-week chart run, dropping only as low as No. 7 on the Dec. 10, 2011, chart. It debuted at No. 1 on the March 12, 2011, tally.
