As many of you folks are aware, a common story is that future serial killer Charlie Manson auditioned for The Monkees.
Sadly for us Monkees fans (myself included), THAT is FALSE, for no other reason than the fact that at the time of the auditions, Charlie was in prison for Kiting Checks, getting released in March 1967, 6 months after the series debut.
Personally, I bet it would have been QUITE interesting if Charlie HAD auditioned for The Monkees; I bet if he had, instead of being the mastermind in the Manson family murders of Sharon Tate, he would be a famous Monkee.
