In a cartoon universe, anything is possible, so the shared-reality aspect of crossovers is less of an event than a tip of the hat to another franchise — see the many, many Simpsons crossovers. The logical inconsistency of the Jetson family moving in next door, for example, can be explained away using a time machine and some of that old Hanna-Barbera magic. But importing a non-cartoon couple into The Flintstones was a more interesting move, and when Darrin and Samantha from Bewitched appear as the newest Bedrock inhabitants, it proved to be both funny and memorable.

It wasn't bad - except that Darrin wasn't in the episode that much, and Samantha was using her magic at the drop of a hat (which she never did on her own show). It was cute for what it was - that was the show everyone wanted to "guest" on, much like it would be for The Simpsons over two decades later.

I liked it, and I thought it was cool that Liz Montgomery and Dick York lent their voices to the show. Also Sam was able to do her magic, because Darrin wasnt around.

Known Fact...Hanna-Barbera DID the animation of "Bewitched"!...

When cartoon Darrin tells cartoon Sam that they have a chance to start over in a new town, I always wonder what happened on 'Bewitched' where they would have go all the way back to the stone age and start all over again.

Imagine if Darrin had to go work for Mr. Slate? I think that after putting up with Larry Tate all those years, it would be a lateral move. :eek: :crazy: :lol:

I remember seeing that episode in reurns and it was hilarious. I also remember the part when the girls caught a lot of fish. It was one of the few animated crossover episodes at that time, with the voices of Dick York and Elizabeth Montgomery from Bewitched.

I dont know. Larry did have a soft side and he and Darrin were friendly. Mr. Slate was a slave driver who just yelled and screamed.

...was basically ABC's idea. To generate "buzz" for the series' sixth season, they asked for more guest stars than in previous seasons {"Stony" Curtis, Jimmy O'Neill(stone) from "SHINDIG!" ("Shinrock!")}. And because "BEWITCHED" was the network's #1 sitcom since its premiere the season before- and that Screen Gems was involved with both "THE FLINTSTONES" and "BEWITCHED" (they produced the latter, distributed the former)...it was inevitable that Liz and Dick would lend their voices for a "special episode" of "THE FLINTSTONES". I believe that did get some ratings "buzz"-- but not enough to save the show from cancellation at the end of the season. Liz later said she got a new portable color TV as payment for her services...and didn't work on another cartoon until just before her death {"BATMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES"}.

It was a fun episode. I loved it.

I didn't care for it, as I kept hoping for Gazoo to appear on behalf of the boys. Not just Screen Gems, its PARENT-Columbisa Pictures-who now has its own parent, Song..>!
