I have to go with Ted on this one, who went into every newcast knowing absolutely nothing about what was going on. At least Les tried to do SOME research, even if everything he did turned out badly!

View Full Version : Who was the more incompetent newsman - Ted Baxter or Les Nessman? catlover79 02-14-2012, 05:32 PM I have to go with Ted on this one, who went into every newcast knowing absolutely nothing about what was going on. At least Les tried to do SOME research, even if everything he did turned out badly! I agree. Ted was just a buffoon (a delightful one, though :D ). Les was at least devoted to giving the news even if he mis-pronunced names at times. (Chi-Chi Rodrigues  ). This reminds me of a MTM episode that ran on Me-TV last week that I saw ("Operation:Lou"). Lou and Ted strike up an admiration for each other that hits a snag when Ted, in the last few minutes of a newscast, decides to pay tribute to Lou rather than read an urgent news bulletin. Les would never do that. News always came first to him. catlover79 02-15-2012, 03:21 PM "In golf today, Chy Chy Rodrigweez shot a 7 under par. Let's hope he plays up to par in the next competition!" Yooch 02-15-2012, 07:09 PM "In golf today, Chy Chy Rodrigweez shot a 7 under par. Retro4Life 02-15-2012, 10:51 PM Ted all the way, lol. catlover79 02-16-2012, 04:45 AM I love that line! So do I!! Priceless.   Brian Damage 02-16-2012, 10:16 AM My vote goes with Les Nessman. For the simple fact that not only did he report inaccurate stuff, he also wrote inaccurate stuff. LOL LUNCH 02-17-2012, 01:13 PM Both equally incompetent in different ways, but Ted Baxter is alot funnier.A sidnote: As a longtime fan of the Mary Tyler Moore Show,Ted Knight was so brilliant in his part that his character just kept getting funnier as the show went on. factsoflife 03-03-2012, 02:49 AM Miles Silverberg on Murphy Brown was very incompetent. catlover79 03-03-2012, 04:56 AM My vote goes with Les Nessman. For the simple fact that not only did he report inaccurate stuff, he also wrote inaccurate stuff. LOL Good point.   |
