In the first episode of season 4, I could not believe Margaret came walking up to the Wilsons' house still pushing her dolls in that doll carriage!  Jeannie Russell was 12 years old at this point!

Jack Gomez 03-13-2012, 05:14 PM I just watched the second to last episode of the fourth season (which also happens to be Margaret's final appearance on the show) and what is she doing yet again? Yep, you guessed it. She's with her doll carriage, still wanting to play house with Dennis. I guess some things never change. paul.austin 09-29-2014, 05:02 AM Just imagine if the show had lasted a year or two longer and Jeannie Russell had started to develop obvious boobs - what would they have done then? gonzo40 09-30-2014, 07:08 AM Looks like she was already developing by season 4..... Wonder what ever happened to those dolls? Bonniegirl 09-30-2014, 10:36 AM I liked her dolls, but after awhile a girl does get too big to be playing with them and pushing them in a doll stroller. They should still be saved and sitting on her bed! I still even have my Raggedy Ann and some other ragdolls! https://encrypted-tbn1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQV54Kx7wz7OrmV-qmYDjNuFERmVrD3SmsK5EtoS8oaXi1dMadWCA https://encrypted-tbn2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTZ1BONlu_hBPcXljWGCckh3olPyvaXkOOT9VBorcbn61R2YBYL Marvo301 09-30-2014, 02:17 PM This is the problem with basing a TV series on a comic strip. The characters in a comic strip never age but the actors portraying those characters on TV do! So it puts the writers in a dilemma. Do the write they characters the way people recognize them from the comic strip or do they allow them to grow up. With Dennis being the lead character they obvious made the decision to allow him to grow up. With the supporting characters their approch obviously differed!! paul.austin 10-01-2014, 01:50 AM Even though it wouldn't have happened on sixties tv, the image of Margaret telling Dennis she had got her first bra brings out quite the giggling. Seriously though, had the show not been cancelled, it would have become very obvious fairly soon that Margaret was entering her teenage years. Yesha 10-01-2014, 02:47 AM Loved watching Dennis the Menace when I was growing up...This show was and will always be straight up HILARIOUS :) schmave 10-09-2014, 03:25 PM Just another example of how the series probably wouldn't have run past the spring/early summer of 1963 even if Joseph Kearns had lived. I never even thought about Margaret still pushing her dolls around in Season 4. :) It reminds me of my thought that Seymour was brought in to fill part of that younger role Dennis vacated by growing up! missy's pop pop 10-12-2014, 08:30 PM Just imagine if the show had lasted a year or two longer and Jeannie Russell had started to develop obvious boobs - what would they have done then? Hate to think of it, but they could have done what they did with the late Anissa Jones ("Buffy" on "Family Affair") -- that is, they would have bound up Jeannie's growing figute...of course, then she would have real reason to be as nasty as she seemed to be on the show! Sal 10-03-2015, 05:52 PM Margaret reminds me of a younger version of Zelda from Dobie Gillis. I get the feeling that she eventually would have married Dennis although I doubt that we'll ever know for sure. |
